Sandstorm is the third expansion of the EX Series in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, released in 2003, and it draws inspiration from the harsh desert environments and ancient ruins of the Hoenn region. Mechanically, Sandstorm continues the introduction of Pokémon-ex, which are stronger-than-usual Pokémon with higher HP and powerful attacks but give up two Prize cards when Knocked Out.
