Pokémon Pocket: Best Cards from Pulsing Aura

The new expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket, Pulsing Aura, has arrived bringing very interesting new cards, and the Pokémon TCG Pocket meta should see some changes this season.

With new synergies for certain archetypes and new Stadiums, it is important to keep an eye on the new set! Below, we highlight some of the most impactful cards and combinations from the collection.

Mega Lucario ex

This was one of the most talked about cards before the set's release and for good reason. The potential to deal 140 damage with few energies is interesting, and the Fighting archetype has great early game Pokémon that attack with just one energy, providing time to set up Mega Lucario.

Furthermore, it is possible to increase this damage even more if we use the regular Lucario with the Fighting Coach ability, which allows attacks used by your Fighting Pokémon to deal 20 more damage to the active Pokémon (and the opponent does not even need to be a Pokémon ex!).

Arena of Antiquity and Korrina

Two more options to increase the damage of the Fighting archetype! It is clear that the developers are making an effort to make the archetype viable, and it might just work.

If you add all of this up, it can cause massive damage. For example, the new Mega Lucario ex, at its maximum potential with the right combination of cards, could deal up to 210 damage! This assumes you have the smaller Lucario on the field, the three Fighting energies, Arena of Antiquity, and Korrina.

Bonsly

Another early game support for the Fighting archetype or any other that needs a bit of time at the start of the match.

Field Blower

This new Item brings versatility in a single card. Being able to deal with an annoying Tool or one that would prevent the opponent's Pokémon from being knocked out is already interesting, but being able to remove a Stadium is also a great deal.

There are some Stadiums, including the new ones, that can heavily influence games in favor of the opponent. Having an ace up your sleeve to deal with them is important.

Zoroark ex

Zoroark ex has a lot of damage potential for just one energy, especially in conjunction with Darkrai ex.

It is possible to keep Zoroark attacking for 90 while attaching energies to Darkrai ex and within 2 turns knock out almost any problematic Pokémon. You still have the potential to hit for 80 with Darkrai ex if Zoroark is knocked out.

Bombirdier

Bombirdier is an honorable mention here. Mobility to retreat is always good, especially in the Darkness archetype, which usually lacks lightweight Pokémon for retreating.

Fragrant Forest

Another searcher for the Grass archetype. Along with Quick-Grow Extract and the well-known healing Trainer cards, we have plenty of support. It is worth remembering that since this Stadium's effect can be used over several turns, it helps to thin the deck and find Pokémon very effectively.

However, if the Grass archetype becomes too popular, it could be a problem since the opponent will also be able to search for Grass Pokémon!

Mega Sceptile ex

Let's start by remembering that Zoroark ex's weakness is precisely the Grass type. In this case, Mega Sceptile proves to be a counter for it.

In addition to being fast to power up and having a very low and practical attack cost, Mega Sceptile has a low retreat cost and deals reasonable damage, knocking out most Pokémon in the metagame in 2 hits.

The collection received new supports for the Grass archetype, which further favors the use of Sceptile and other very promising Pokémon. Perhaps Grass decks will be very present in the metagame this coming season!

Budew

Budew may seem harmless at first glance, but it can make a big difference in the early, middle, and end of the match, much like the Budew from the Pokémon TCG which is hated by many players.

As its attack is free, it can already cause an impact on the first turn and change the course for archetypes based on abilities, such as the legendary dogs Suicune and Entei.

In the late game, Budew can be the key to dealing with decks that use Oricorio which has the Safeguard ability to protect itself, potentially shaking up the metagame.

Victini

Moltres receives great support from this Victini. The Fire archetype already has some good ways to accelerate energy, such as Charmeleon, and great attackers like the Charizards. Being able to power up this raw but heavy damage with more consistency will make the archetype more interesting and less dependent on luck.

Vaporeon ex

Honorable mention. Although this Vaporeon ex's ability is very interesting, its attack does not deal much damage and its retreat cost is very high. Of course, we could use it alongside some equipment that facilitates retreating, or with Misty, or with a faster energy accelerator like Manaphy, but it seems like a lot of effort for a card that is not very aggressive. There are Trainer cards that provide the same effect or even better.

It could be interesting alongside Greninja or more defensive Pokémon. Still, it seems like a lot of effort, especially with the arrival of Field Blower which can remove retreat equipment and hinder Vaporeon's mobility.

Conclusion

The new set has arrived with many interesting cards, breaking the boredom of the stagnant metagame and making it possible to build some new strategies or improve old ones, especially for Fighting Pokémon.
