Today, we'll show you a few lists with the fourth base set in this block, Chaos Rising, which still features Mega Pokémon ex.Unfortunately, only a few Mega Pokémon ex in this set were relevant. Namely, Mega Greninja ex CRI 22 and Mega Gallade ex CRI 48 (which we discussed in length in this article). The other Mega Pokémon in this set could show up in a list or two, but they won't see much play. Greninja got on our radars back in March, when it was released in Japan and performed quite well at a few tournaments. One of them was the Kanagawa City League Tournament, which was won by a Mega Greninja list.This version plays Greninja ex TWM 106, from Scarlet & Violet: Twilight Masquerade, to deal more sniper damage.Pokémon exMega Greninja exLet's start with its ability, Deadly Shuriken. It works like so: during your turn, if Mega Greninja ex is your active Pokémon, you may discard 1 basic Water energy from your hand to put 6 damage counters on 1 enemy Pokémon.Its main attack, Ninja Spinner (W)(W), deals 120 damage. If you return 1 basic Water energy attached to Mega Greninja ex to your hand, you may deal an extra 80 damage.Basically, you'll spread damage counters with its ability (as the name suggests, a "spread" strategy) to knock out enemy Pokémon. Then, to make up for the basic water energy you'll discard with this ability, you'll use Ninja Spinner to return one basic Water energy to your hand.Terastal Greninja exIts attack, Shinobi Blade, is excellent because it is quite fast and cheap (only one Water energy) and deals 170 damage. It also lets you look for any card you want in your deck, so it will create a huge advantage for you.Its second attack, Mirage Barrage, deals 120 damage to 2 enemy Pokémon if you discard 2 energies attached to it (don't apply weakness or resistance to the bench).Remember what we said about Mega Greninja ex CRI 22's ability? It will complement Mirage Barrage and form a great combo with it.Wellspring Mask Ogerpon exThis Ogerpon also complements the overall "sniper" strategy because of its attack, Torrential Pump. It deals 100 damage and lets you return 3 energies attached to it to deal 120 damage to one of the opponent's benched Pokémon (don't apply weakness or resistance to the bench).Recursive PokémonPokémon exFezandipiti ex SFA 38's ability, Flip the Script, draws three cards if one of your Pokémon was knocked out by enemy attacks on the previous turn. It is an essential way to draw cards throughout the match.This list also plays Meowth ex POR 62 to get Supporters from the deck. As usual, we must mention that this Pokémon has been essential throughout the last 2 years it has been in Standard.Single Prize PokémonDudunsparceDudunsparce PRE 80's ability draws 3 cards. Next, this Pokémon and all cards attached to it will return to your deck. It deals 290 damage, but it comes with a drawback: it deals 10 less damage for each counter on Mega Pyroar ex.After you use Fiery Big Bang, if Mega Pyroar ex takes more damage throughout the match, you should move on to its first attack, Ferocious Below. It deals 80 damage and protects it from enemy attacks in the following turn (50 damage).This list also plays Reshiram ex WHT 20. Its second attack, Blazing Burst, deals 150 damage as well as an extra 50 damage for each Prize card the opponent has taken. But you'll also have to discard 1 energy attached to it."Baby" PokémonMoltresThis Pokémon is an excellent attacker (and also only gives the opponent one Prize card when knocked out), as it deals a considerable amount of damage to the opponent's active Pokémon if they're playing a Pokémon ex. Its effect deals 20 + 90 damage, so 110 damage!Furthermore, it's a great answer to decks that play Budew PRE 4 because it deals more damage through weakness. It can knock it out immediately.Emboar WHT 13Finally, we have Emboar WHT 13. It is a recursive Pokémon thanks to its ability, Inferno Fandango, a variation of Rain Dance, but for the Fire archetype. It puts basic Fire energies from your hand on your Pokémon, regardless if they are Pokémon ex, Mega Pokémon ex, or single prize Pokémon.You can also include Oricorio ex PFL 18 in this list. However, you'll need a Fire Mega Pokémon ex in play to attach energies to 1 benched Fire Pokémon. Its first attack removes enemy resources from play.Corrosive Liquid forces the opponent to discard all special energies and tools attached to all of their Pokémon in play, both their active Pokémon and their benched Pokémon!Its other attack, Pernicious Poison, is also quite powerful. It puts 16 damage counters on the opponent's Poisoned active Pokémon in between turns. That represents 160 damage.This is a lot of damage, but it can't knock out Pokémon by itself, and the opponent can remove the Poisoning from their Pokémon by retreating it. To complement this damage, you'll have the other attackers in this deck (we'll see them below).Mega Froslass exMega Froslass ex ASC 47 stands out because of its main attack, Resentful Refrain. It deals 50 damage for each card in the opponent's hand and is the fastest way to spread damage on the board.Most players want to keep as many cards in their hand as possible to hoard resources, and that's why this attack is so great. For instance, if the opponent goes overboard with card draw by playing Dudunsparce TEF 129 and Enriching Energy SSP 191 (which are very common in Alakazam MEG 56 decks), they'll struggle a lot against this Pokémon.How the combo works:While Mega Froslass ex deals a lot of damage quite fast early on, you'll fill your bench with Munkidori TWM 95 and Froslass TWM 53. Then, you'll put Risky Ruins MEG 127 in play so that you can put more damage counters in play.Risky Ruins MEG 127 puts 2 damage counters on any basic non-Darkness Pokémon when they're put on the bench from any hand.Once this Stadium puts damage counters on the board, you'll use Munkidori TWM 95's Adrena-Brain. If it has a Darkness energy attached, you may move up to 3 damage counters from your Pokémon to enemy Pokémon.Then, you'll use Froslass TWM 53's ability, which puts 1 damage counter on all Pokémon in play with abilities (yours and the opponent's). These counters will also be great with Munkidori TWM 95's ability.There are many Meowth ex POR 62 and Fezandipiti ex SFA 38 in the meta right now, so you'll be able to spread these counters with Froslass TWM 53's ability quite easily.Beedrill exPOKÉMON: 214 Weedle CRI 14 Kakuna CRI 24 Beedrill ex CRI 31 Meowth ex POR 621 Rellor TEF 231 Rabsca TEF 241 Budew PRE 42 Dunsparce JTG 1202 Dudunsparce PRE 801 Fan Rotom PRE 85TRAINERS: 334 Lillie's Determination ASC 1923 Dawn PFL 872 Boss's Orders ASC 1831 Carmine PRE 1031 Lana's Aid TWM 1554 Forest of Vitality MEG 1174 Ultra Ball ASC 2134 Buddy-Buddy Poffin ASC 1844 Bug Catching Set TWM 1433 Poké Pad ASC 1981 Special Red Card CRI 821 Sacred Ash DRI 1681 Energy Recycler DRI 1641 Secret Box TWM 163 (OU Max Rod PRE 116)ENERGIES: 55 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278This is considered a "rogue" list, but it is quite practical to build and easy to set up. You'll easily get the energies you need for Beedril ex's attack, and it can also deal a lot of damage for very little investment.Beedrill ex CRI 3Its attack, Rumbling Bees (G), deals 110 damage for each Beedrill and Beedril ex in play.As such, you can deal an impressive 440 damage for just one energy as long as you have 4 Beedril ex in play!It's an excellent answer to popular decks, like Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104, which became quite popular in the format after the rotation.There is a lot of Plant support in Standard right now, in particular Forest of Vitality MEG 117, so evolving these Pokémon faster is quite simple.Recursive PokémonSingle Prize PokémonIts ability, Spherical Shield, protects your benched Pokémon from enemy attacks and attack effects.To sum up, "sniper" and "spread" damage won't affect your benched Pokémon. Like so, your Weedles and Kakunas will be protected, and you'll be able to set up Beedrill ex quite fast with Forest of Vitality MEG 117.Final WordsWhat do you think?
