Introduction

Chaos Rising has been out for a while, so let's explore a few of its single prize cards in Standard, as they're quite interesting. The deck below is considered a "rogue" strategy, but it is perfect for casual matches between friends and might even perform well at local events.

We'll go over Delphox CRI 13, whose attack deals more damage according to how many energies are in play (considering your board and the opponent's). To get the energies we need to use it, this list also plays Emboar WHT 13. We'll explain it in more detail soon. Without further ado, let's go!

Delphox: The Main Attacker

Its ability, Flaring Magic, lets you discard one basic Fire energy from your hand to draw until you have 7 cards in hand, but only once per turn.

Its attack, Energized Storm, costs (F)(F) and deals 30 damage for each energy in play.

Basically, this Pokémon gives you a lot of cards through its ability.

Its attack is pretty straightforward as well: the opponent will always attach energies to their Pokémon to progress their strategy, and this attack will deal more damage as a result. Like so, you only have to focus on attaching energies to your own Pokémon with cards like Firebreather PFL 89 and Emboar WHT 13. You'll deal a lot of damage for very little investment.

Moltres: The Single Prize Attacker

Its attack is pretty straightforward: it deals 20 damage. However, if the opponent is using a Pokémon ex in their active spot, it deals 90 extra damage. So, it deals 110 damage in total!

Emboar WHT 13 is the core of this strategy. Its ability, Inferno Fandango, is a great way to set up your energies. It is the same as the iconic Rain Dance ability (from the Water archetype), but for the Fire archetype. It lets you attach Fire energies to your Pokémon however you like!

Budew PRE 4's first attack, Itchy Pollen, sabotages the opponent, as it prevents them from using Items in the following turn.

As for Shaymin DRI 10, its ability, Flower Curtain, protects single prize Pokémon on your bench from direct enemy attacks.

Keep in mind that this ability doesn't protect Rule Box Pokémon. Because this list plays mostly baby Pokémon, though, it is perfect.

Fezandipiti ex SFA 38's ability, Flip the Script, draws 3 cards if one of your Pokémon was knocked out by enemy attacks in the previous turn.

We also can't forget about Meowth ex POR 62, from Perfect Order. Its ability, Last-Ditch Catch, lets you look for one Supporter in your deck when you play this Pokémon from your hand to your bench. Then, you'll reveal it and put it in your hand.

Furthermore, you can easily get the energies you need to use Meowth ex's attack because of Emboar WHT 13's ability, which means you can use it as an alternative attacker.

Its attack, Tuck Tail, deals damage and returns Meowth ex and all energies attached to it to your hand. This is an excellent defensive maneuver, and it is great when you need to prevent your opponent from getting 2 Prize cards.

Lillie's Determination MEG 119 lets you shuffle your hand back into your deck and draw 6 new cards. However, if you have exactly 6 Prize cards left, you'll draw 8 cards instead of 6.

Dawn PFL 87 lets you look for Pokémon, more specifically 1 basic Pokémon, 1 stage 1 Pokémon, and 1 stage 2 Pokémon.

It is crucial because this deck plays two difficult evolution lines (stage 2 Pokémon).

Firebreather PFL 89 lets you look for up to 7 basic Fire energies in your deck. It is extremely important because of Emboar WHT 13's ability, Inferno Fandango. Together, these two cards will allow you to set up a lot of energies however you like.

Boss's Orders MEG 114 lets you pull a benched enemy Pokémon into the active spot. It is perfect when you need to knock out a particular Pokémon.

Items to Get Pokémon

Ultra Ball MEG 131 lets you look for any Pokémon (basic or evolution) as long as you discard 2 cards from your hand.

Buddy-Buddy Poffin TEF 144 lets you look for up to 2 basic Pokémon with 70 HP or less in your deck and put them directly on your bench. If you don't have any space on your bench, you can't play this card.

Poké Pad POR 81 lets you look for a baby Pokémon in your deck, that is, Pokémon without a rule box.

Item to Recycle Pokémon and Energies

Sacred Ash DRI 168 lets you recycle up to 5 Pokémon in your discard pile and shuffle them back into your deck.

Energy Recycler DRI 164 lets you return up to 5 basic energies from your discard pile back into your deck.

Tools

Air Balloon BLK 79 lets you retreat the Pokémon it is attached to for 2 less colorless energies (C)(C). It is perfect on Emboar WHT 13, as it needs 4 energies to retreat.

Brave Bangle WHT 80 makes your single prize Pokémon deal 30 extra damage to the opponent's active Pokémon ex.

For instance, if you attack with Moltres PFL 14 and it has this tool attached, the opponent's active Pokémon ex will take 140 damage for just one Fire energy!

Stadium

Battle Cage PFL 85 protects your benched Pokémon from attack effects and abilities on enemy Pokémon.

It is perfect against Dragapult ex PRE 73 lists (which rely on its attack, Phantom Dive), Dusclops PRE 36 / Dusknoir PRE 37 archetypes, as well as Froslass TWM 53 / Munkidori TWM 95 combos.

ACE SPEC

This ACE SPEC is an Item. It lets you recycle up to 5 cards, including Pokémon and basic energies, from your discard pile and put them directly in your hand!

Final Words

This deck is cheap to build, quite fun, and an excellent answer to the Grass decks that are dominating the meta, like Crustlelink outside website and Hydrapple exlink outside website. Particularly Hydrapple ex, as it relies a lot on getting energies with Meganium MEG 10.

However, it does struggle with retreat costs. Emboar WHT 13, for instance, needs (C)(C)(C)(C) to retreat, and Delphox CRI 13 needs (C)(C). If you're up against a stall strategy and need to retreat these Pokémon manually, you'll have to spend energies to retreat them that you'd rather use to attack, and this could delay you for a few turns.

Another thing it struggles with is Battle Cage PFL 85. This deck doesn't use many copies of it, and an experienced opponent can explore this weakness. Without this Stadium to protect your bench from "spread" damage, Dragapult ex PRE 73 lists (which use Phantom Dive), Dusclops PRE 36 and Dusknoir PRE 37, and Froslass TWM 53 / Munkidori TWM 95 combos can be quite difficult to deal with.
