Introduction

The Pokémon TCG Campinas Regional Tournament in Brazil welcomed 1.725 players on May 16th, 2026.

Matias Matricardi became champion with Hydrapple ex SCR 14, which got pretty relevant in the West after the rotation. It also counters Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104 and Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex DRI 136.

Furthermore, the Grass archetype really flourished in this format because of Forest of Vitality MEG 117 and Meganium MEG 10, which are great ways to evolve Grass Pokémon and attach Grass energies, respectively.

But this archetype is nothing new: it was already performing well in Japan last year, at the Aichi City League. By the way, we also covered it at the timelink outside website.

Matias won US$10.000 with it.

That being said, let's see how it works.

Hydrapple ex: The Main Attacker

Its ability, Ripening Charge, lets you attach one Basic Grass Energy sv2 278 from your hand to one of your Pokémon. If you do, you'll also heal that Pokémon by 30HP.

Its main attack, Syrup Storm (which costs 2 energies (C)(C)), deals 30 damage for each Basic Grass Energy sv2 278 attached to your Pokémon.

The Meganium Combo

To deal 270 damage, for instance, you'd have to put 9 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278 in play, which is difficult. This means you'll have to attack with your Pokémon a few extra times over more turns to knock out enemy Pokémon.

That's where Meganium MEG 10 comes in. Its ability, Wild Growth, makes each Grass energy count for 2.

Like so, if you play 8 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278, you'll have double that, so 16 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278. This will allow you to knock out Pokémon with Hydrapple ex SCR 14 in just a single turn by dealing 480 damage (which is more than enough)!

Tapu Bulu: Single Prize Attacker

Its attack is a bit expensive (two Grass energies and two colorless energies), but that won't be an issue because of Meganium MEG 10. As we mentioned, if you use Meganium's ability, 2 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278 become 4.

This attack also has a drawback effect that deals 30 damage to Tapu Bulu, but it deals 220 damage to enemy Pokémon, which is great for a basic, single prize attacker.

Recursive Pokémon

Baby Pokémon

Meganium MEG 10 is the heart of this entire strategy. Its ability is what "puts" more Grass energies in play, essentially.

Celebi MEG 12's first attack, Traverse Time, lets you get 3 cards from your deck, including Stadiums and Grass Pokémon.

Rule Box Pokémon

Fezandipiti ex SFA 38's ability, Flip the Script, draws 3 cards if one of your Pokémon was knocked out by enemy attacks in the previous turn.

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex TWM 25's ability, Teal Dance, draws 2 cards when you attach 1 Basic Grass Energy sv2 278 from your hand to this Pokémon.

Of course, we can't forget Meowth ex POR 62 from Perfect Order. Its ability, Last-Ditch Catch, states that when you play this Pokémon from your hand to your bench, you may look for a Supporter, reveal it, and put it in your hand.

Furthermore, you can easily get the energies for Meowth ex's attack with Meganium MEG 10's ability and use it as an alternative attacker. Tuck Tail deals damage and returns Meowth ex and all energies attached to it to your hand. In a pinch, you can use it to protect it from enemy attacks.

Lillie's Determination MEG 119 lets you shuffle your hand back into your deck and draw 6 cards. If you have exactly 6 Prize cards left, you'll draw 8 cards instead.

Ciphermaniac's Codebreaking TEF 145 lets you look for any 2 cards in your deck, then shuffle it. Next, you may put those 2 cards at the very top of your deck in any order.

Dawn PFL 87 lets you look for 1 basic Pokémon, 1 stage 1 Pokémon, and 1 stage 2 Pokémon from your deck.

You can only really play Briar SCR 132 on Teal Mask Ogerpon ex TWM 25 because this card only works on Terastal Pokémon ex. If the opponent has exactly 2 Prize cards left, you may use this card. If so, if your Terastal Pokémon ex knocks out an enemy Pokémon, you'll draw 1 extra Prize card.

In other words, if you knock out a single prize Pokémon with your Teal Mask Ogerpon ex TWM 25, you'll get 2 Prize cards. Did you knock out a Pokémon ex? You'll draw 3 Prize cards!

If you knock out a Mega Pokémon ex with it, you'll draw 4 Prize cards!

Lana's Aid TWM 155 recycles up to 3 cards, including basic energies and Pokémon that don't have a rule box (baby Pokémon).

Boss's Orders MEG 114 lets you pull enemy Pokémon from their bench. You should use it to knock out a particular enemy Pokémon.

Items to Get Pokémon

Ultra Ball MEG 131 lets you get any Pokémon (evolution or basic) from your deck, as long as you discard 2 cards from your hand.

Bug Catching Set TWM 143 lets you look at the top 7 cards in your deck and get any 2 cards, including Grass Pokémon (basic or evolution) and Grass energies.

Poké Pad POR 81 lets you look for a baby Pokémon in your deck (those without a Rule Box) and get it.

Item to Recycle Pokémon and Energies

This card lets you recycle 1 Pokémon or 1 basic energy from your discard pile and put it in your hand.

Stadium

Forest of Vitality MEG 117 lets you evolve your Grass Pokémon directly (except for the first time you put that basic Pokémon in play, in the very first turn).

ACE SPEC

Loading icon

This ACE SPEC is an item. You can only activate it if one of your Pokémon was knocked out by the opponent in the previous turn. If so, you and your opponent will shuffle your hands back into your decks, they'll draw only 2 cards, and you'll draw 5 new ones.

This deck constantly draws cards, considering Teal Mask Ogerpon ex TWM 25's ability and Fezandipiti ex ASC 142's ability.

Pros

As we mentioned before, Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104 is pretty popular, and this list counters it because it is weak to the Grass archetype.

Pitch Black, the next set (also known as Abyss Eye in Japan), will introduce more Darkness Pokémon, so Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex DRI 136 will most likely become popular again. When that happens, Hydrapple ex SCR 14 may once again become an efficient answer.

Cons

This list overall struggles against spread decks, like Dragapult ex PRE 73, because it doesn't play a Rabsca TEF 24 to protect itself.

Another problem is the Fire archetype. Once the next set (Pitch Black) brings Mega Delphox ex, aggressive attackers, like Mega Charizard Y, will be a lot stronger.

Final Words

This deck is pretty cheap. The most expensive card in it might be Unfair Stamp TWM 165.

My only concern is that it doesn't play more "recycling" cards, at least one more copy of Sacred Ash DRI 168 and one copy of Energy Recycler DRI 164. Particularly, I don't like spending my Supporter turns with recyclers like Lana's Aid TWM 155. I prefer Lillie's Determination MEG 119 or Boss's Orders MEG 114 to knock out Pokémon as fast as possible.
