Introduction
Today, we'll discuss the best Houndoom in Pokémon TCG, since the Wizards of the Coast era until today.
Top 10 Best Houndoom of All Time
10 - Houndoom (Sun/Moon: Crimson Invasion)
This Pokémon's attacks are quite straightforward: Fire Fang deals a reasonable amount of damage and also burns the enemy Pokémon. If your opponent gets "tails" on their following coin tosses, their Pokémon will keep taking 20 damage each turn.
As for Puncturing Fangs, it is excellent because it ignores resistance. Against Psychic Pokémon, you can use Supereffective Glasses ASR 152 to triple the damage you deal and thus deal up to 270 damage!

9 - Houndoom (Sword/Shield: Battle Styles)
This Houndoom stands out because of its ability, Single Strike Roar, which lets you look for a Single Strike Energy BST 141 in your deck and attach it to one of your Single Strike Pokémon. This combo was very popular with Single Strike Urshifu VMAX BRS TG29 and Single Strike Scroll of Scorn BST 133. You didn't have to use G-Max One Blow and discard all your energies because this tool simply let you use its attack and deal damage according to how many damage counters Urshifu had.
8 - Houndoom (Diamond/Pearl: Legends Awakened)
This Houndoom from the Diamond/Pearl era has an ability called Revenge Fang, which deals an extra 40 damage if you have less Pokémon on your bench than your opponent. This was quite powerful when it was released. Its attack, Burning Sensation, initially deals 20 damage, but it also burns the enemy Pokémon if they have any damage counters.
Its final attack, Bright Flame, deals 60 damage but relies on luck because you need to hit your coin tosses to not discard any Fire energies. It was great when it was released.
7 - Houndoom (Diamond/Pearl: Great Encounters)
Its first attack, Dark Fang, lets you discard, at random, one card in your opponent's hand.
Its second attack, Black Fire, in turn, offers you two options: if you discard a Fire Energy DP 124, you can burn the enemy Pokémon. If you discard a Darkness Energy, you can deal an extra 30 damage.
6 - Houndoom (Heart Gold/Soul Silver: Undaunted)
Its attack, Fire Counterattack, is great against Fighting Pokémon because it deals 80 damage if there are any of these Pokémon in play. As for Dark Roar, it forces your opponent to discard one card in their hand and thus helps you control the game.
5 - Houndoom (Sun/Moon: Lost Thunder)
With its attack, Nasty Plot, you can look for any card in your deck, trainer or Pokémon, and so setting up future plays will be a lot easier.
Its attack, Attack Operation, deals 50 damage plus an extra 80 if you have more cards in hand than your opponent. A common strategy when it was released was to use Salazzle UNB 31 and boost this effect even more!
4 - Houndoom (Ruby/Sapphire: Unseen Forces)
The only interesting detail about this card is its ability, Lonesome, which prevents your opponent from playing any Trainers if you have less Pokémon in play than them. It is also great to control the game.
3 - Houndoom ex (Scarlet/Violet: Obsidian Flames)
This Pokémon's attack, Evil Claw, prevents basic Pokémon from attacking the next turn, and thus delays the enemy game plan.
As for its attack, Hound's Fang, it deals a considerable amount of damage (220), but demands three Basic Darkness Energy SFA 98 and deals 30 damage to Houndoom itself. You can make up for this in Expanded with cards like Protection Cube FLF 95.

2 - Houndoom & Mega Houndoom-EX (X/Y: BREAKTrough)
Houndoom-EX and Mega Houndoom-EX work together, so we decided to list them together in our second place.
Houndoom-EX BKT 21's attack, Melting Horn, mills two cards from the top of the enemy deck. Its second attack, Grand Flame, recycles one Fire energy on the discard pile for you and also deals some damage.
As for M Houndoom-EX BKT 22, you can use its attack, Inferno Fang, to deal 160 damage, but only if you discard all Fire energies attached to it.
In the X/Y era, more specifically, in Standard, we could play Blacksmith FLF 88, which lets you get these basic Fire energies from your discard pile and attach them to one of your Fire Pokémon.
Houndoom Spirit Link BKT 142 was essential; with it, you didn't have to pass your turn after you evolved it into its Mega version.
1 - Houndoom V (Sword/Shield: Darkness Ablaze)
This card stands out because of its attack, Vengeful Flame, which deals 100 + 100 damage if any of your Fire Pokémon have any damage counters. In Expanded, you can play this card with Pokémon that use the Outrage attack, like Reshiram & Charizard-GX UNB 20, or Magma Basin BRS 185. This stadium lets you get one Basic Fire Energy sv3 230 from your discard pile and attach it to a Pokémon. Then, you'll have to put two damage counters on that Pokémon and thus enable Vengeful Flame.
Honorable Mentions
Houndoom (Wizards of the Coast Era: Neo Discovery)
This Houndoom from the WOTC era doesn't have any weaknesses, which was a great advantage. Its attack, Crunch, adds an extra 20 damage to your first attack on the next turn if it deals any damage. You could deal up to 60 damage with it if you used the special Darkness energy at the time.
Houndoom (Wizards of the Coast Era: Neo Revelation)
This Houndoom, which also doesn't have any weaknesses, stands out because of its attack, Dark Flame, which lets you recycle one special Darkness energy from your discard pile for one Fire energy.
As for its attack, Black Fang, it deals 30 base damage but can deal an extra 10 damage for each Darkness energy attached to it if you hit your coin toss.
Darkness Energy N1 104 was the best energy to deal even more damage with this Houndoom.
