Introduction
Hey, guys!
Today, we'll continue reviewing Pokémon from Johto as we explore this region. Our next stops are Ho-Oh's creations, the legendary beasts Entei, Raikou, and Suicune*.
More specifically, we'll cover Entei today.
Without further ado, let's go!
Top 10 Best Suicune of All Time
10 - Suicune (Diamond/Pearl: Secret Wonders)
Let's start with the Diamond/Pearl era. This Suicune stands out because of its ability, Aqua Recover, which recycles Pokémon. When you play it from your hand onto the bench, it lets you get up to three Water Pokémon from your discard pile and add them to your hand. This is very useful in Water decks to get your resources back.

Its attack, Cure Stream, is simple, but efficient: "During your opponent's next turn, any damage done by attacks from the Defending Pokémon is reduced by 20". After you use this effect, Suicune will stay on your board for longer.
It might not be available in the official Expanded format today, but can stand out in alternative formats, like Palace or U150, which include cards from the Diamond/Pearl block.
9 - Suicune (Sun/Moon: Wizards of the Coast Era: Neo Revelation)
This is a classic Suicune from the Wizards of the Coast era. It was considered the best Johto Beast in its time, and was popular in decks like Water Box next to Blastoise BS 2, which give you the energies you needed to play this archetype.
Its ability, Crystal Body, prevents all effects of enemy attacks used against Suicune, except if it is affected by special conditions like Asleep, Confusion, and Paralysis. This means you can ignore enemy effects that restrict you, and keep using Suicune as a trustworthy attacker.
Its attack, Aurora Wave, is also interesting, as it gives enemy Pokémon special conditions depending on what you get on your coin tosses: you'll Paralyze them if they're both "heads", and make them fall Asleep if one is "tails".
8 - Suicune (Black/White: Plasma Blast)
During the Black/White meta, this Suicune played a crucial role in many decks thanks to its ability, Safeguard. It makes this Pokémon completely immune to Pokémon-EX, which were popular at the time.
This protection made this Suicune popular in defensive strategies, much like Mimikyu sv2 97 is in the current meta.
7 - Suicune (X/Y: BREAKpoint)
This Suicune from the X/Y era stands out because of its ability, Wind Charm, which prevents all effects of your opponent's attacks, except damage, done to each of your Pokémon, as long as Suicune is your active Pokémon.
It is an essential protection for strategies that focus on controlling the board, even though it can't remove any effects that your opponent has already played.
6 - Suicune (Sun/Moon: Lost Thunder)
The Sun/Moon Suicune conquered space in the meta thanks to its ability, Frozen Flower, which lets you move one of your opponent's benched Pokémon to their active slot if Suicune is your active Pokémon.
In Expanded, we frequently combined this ability with Scoop Up Net RCL 165 and looped them over and over. Suicune has remained relevant in Water decks and strategies that make the most out of its "catcher" role even after this card was banned.
5 - Suicune & Entei "LEGEND" (Heart Gold/Soul Silver: Unleashed)
This card from the LEGEND era combines Suicune and Entei to create a devastating attack, Torrent Blade, which deals 100 "sniper" damage and returns to your hand two Water energies that were attached to this card.

It is ideal for the Legacy format, and is popular with Blastoise BCR 31, which gets you the energies you need to use its attack, as well as maximize its offensive potential.
4 - Raikou & Suicune "LEGEND" (Heart Gold/Soul Silver: Unleashed)
We have another card from the LEGEND era. This one stands out because of its attack, Thunderbolt Spear, which deals 150 damage, but also deals 50 damage to Suicune & Raikou. Its other attack, Aurora Gain is perfect to complement this strategy, as it deals 50 damage to enemy Pokémon and heals Suicune & Raikou.
This card is available in the Legacy format.
3 - Rocket's Suicune ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Team Rocket Returns)
In our third place, we have Team Rocket's corrupted Suicune. It was extremely powerful in its meta because of two main reasons:
- Its ability, Dark and Clear, which protects it against any special conditions if it has any Darkness energy attached.
- Its attack, Hyper Splash, deals 50 damage plus 40 extra damage against stage 2 Pokémon, which made it a significant threat in a meta full of evolutions.
2 - Suicune-GX (Sun/Moon: Lost Thunder)
This Suicune-GX occupies our second place because it is the most versatile beast from its time. Its main features are:
- Its attack, Cure Stream, which deals 120 damage and prevents 30 damage next turn.
- Its GX attack, Brinicles, which deals 150 damage and lets you retreat Suicune to your bench and protect it.
- Its ability, Phantom Winds, which lets you retreat Suicune and all cards attached to it to your deck. You can use it to prevent your opponent from getting two Prize cards when they're about to knock it out.
1 - Suicune V (Sword/Shield: Evolving Skies)
In our first place, we have Suicune V EVS 31, an extremely efficient Pokémon in Water decks. Its ability draws you an extra card as long as it is your active Pokémon, and its attack deals damage according to how many benched Pokémon are in play. This means it can deal a lot of damage in certain situations.
Suicune V is great with tools like Forest Seal Stone SIT 156 and Sky Seal Stone CRZ 143, which buff its defensive and offensive abilities and make it a key piece in many decks.
