Introduction
Greetings! Prismatic Evolutions, the new special set, was released January 17th, 2025. Let's see the best cards from this set for Standard - this includes Pokémon, Trainers, and ACE SPECs.
As this is a special set, it is smaller, so it doesn't include as many cards as a regular base set. Nonetheless, there are still a couple of gems in it that deserve a better look.
Without further ado, let's go!
Best Pokémon in Prismatic Evolutions
Baby Pokémon
Budew

Ad
By far, this is the most coveted card from this set for competitive settings. This Pokémon's attack effectively controls your opponent, as it prevents them from playing any Items from their hand.
This means they won't be able to use cards like Nest Ball sv1 181, Ultra Ball sv1 196, and Buddy-Buddy Poffin PRE 101, which are essential in every deck and get you Pokémon from your deck. They won't be able to use Superior Energy Retrieval sv2 189, Super Rod sv2 188, and Earthen Vessel PRE 106 either, as well as any ACE SPEC Items!
You can be sure that, in the final days of Snorlax PGO 55's control deck, Budew will be there. This Pokémon will be popular in nearly all decks, even if we only use one copy of it.
Regigigas
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Regigigas deals 330 damage to Terastal Pokémon.
It will be incredibly welcome in the Lugia VSTAR SIT 139 deck as a new attacker once it is in its final days.
And, after the next rotation, we'll still be able to play many Pokémon to get the energies Regigigas needs, like Baxcalibur sv2 60, Metang TEF 114, and Xatu sv4pt5 26.
Eevee
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Eevee's ability lets you evolve it as early as turn 1, as you can get its eeveelutions without Tera Orb SSP 189 or any search Trainer, like Ultra Ball.
If you enjoy Eeveelutions, this Eevee is a must.
Pokémon ex
Tyranitar ex
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Tyranitar ex came straight from the ex Starter Deck Generations set, and has two excellent attacks.
Its first attack deals extra damage according to each energy attached to it: you'll deal 50 extra damage per energy. The great thing about that is that, as this attack requires one colorless energy (C), you can take advantage of Baxcalibur sv2 60's Super Cold ability to deal more damage with it. If you manage to attach 7 energies, you'll deal a whopping 350 damage.
Its second attack, in turn, controls your opponent, as it forces them to discard one random card from their hand.
Lucario ex
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Considering how Electric Pokémon like Iron Hands ex sv4 70 and Iron Thorns ex TWM 77 are dominating the format right now, this Pokémon will be a great option because of its type.
We're talking about Iron Thorns ex TWM 77, whose ability disables abilities on any non-Future Pokémon with a Rule Box. Considering Lucario ex doesn't have any abilities, and its second attack, Tornado Rush deals up to 200 damage with only 2 energies (not applying weakness; if we consider weakness, it deals up to 400 damage), it will be quite strong against Electric Pokémon.
Jolteon ex
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Jolteon ex is one of the most consistent attackers among eeveelutions. That's because, if you discard energies from your benched Pokémon, you can deal more damage with its first attack.
Ad
You'll also have no trouble attaching more energies to your Pokémon after you use this attack because many cards in this format let you do that, like Electric Generator sv1 170 and Magneton SSP 59. This Jolteon ex will definitely become the new Electric attacker.
Espeon ex
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
As for Espeon ex, it will promote a "devolve" combo in the format, which is something it has always done.
This meta includes Dusknoir SFA 20 and Technical Machine: Devolution sv4 177, so you can combine a "damage counter" combo with this "devolve" combo to knock out multiple "baby" Pokémon that were great Pokémon ex before, like Charizard ex sv4pt5 54 and Dragapult ex TWM 130.
Its attack, Amazez, forces your opponent to return their highest evolution to their deck.
Honorable Mentions: Reprints
This set is full of reprints, which will make them cheaper.
Here are a few of them:

Trainer
Supporters
Larry's Skill
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This is the only Supporter from this set that may stand out.
To use it, you need to discard your hand. Then, you can look for a Pokémon, a basic energy and a "Supporter" and add them to your hand. It will be very useful if you get hit with a Budew PRE 4 and can't use Items anymore.
Item
Roto-Stick
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This card will replace Pokégear 3.0 sv1 186, which will rotate in 2026.
Please note: Pokégear 3.0 sv1 186 lets you look at the top seven cards in your deck and get one "Supporter".
Roto-Stick PRE 127, in turn, lets you look at the top four cards in your deck, but you'll be able to get any number of Supporters you find this way, instead of only one!
ACE SPECs
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Max Rod PRE 116 lets you recycle five cards (Pokémon and basic energies) from the discard pile and add them to your hand.
Treasure Tracker PRE 131 lets you get up to 5 Tools from your deck and add them to your hand.
During a match, you can use this card to "set up" your Pokémon. For instance, you could use four copies of Exp. Share sv1 174 in your deck and get all four of them with this card.
