Introduction
Greetings, Pokémon community!
In today's article, let's go through the most expensive cards of 2025.
Please note that this data is from TCG Player, accessed on December 17th, 2025, and that the cards below are in English.
Top 10 Most Expensive Cards of 2025
10 - Mega Gardevoir ex (Mega Evolution: Base Set)

Mega Gardevoir was one of the most anticipated Mega Evolutions in the Mega Evolution block. The "Mega Hyper Rare" version, or "Gold Full Art", is the 10th most expensive card of 2025.
It also has more HP than any other card in the meta, surpassing Sword & Shield's Snorlax VMAX SSH 142. This is a direct result of the "power creep" the game has experienced in the last years.
Its attacks are also excellent. The first one (Overflowing Wishes) is a great way to attach energies to benched Pokémon. The second, Mega Symphonia, deals damage according to the Psychic energies attached to your Pokémon.
Price: US$296.17.
9 - Sylveon ex (Scarlet/Violet: Prismatic Evolutions)

This card is from the special set centered around Eeveelutions. It was illustrated by Cona Nintada, who is known for their shoujo style.
It didn't see a lot of play in Standard, but in Expanded its second attack, Angelite, is quite strong. That's because it disrupts the enemy bench considerably, as it forces them to return 2 Pokémon to their deck along with all cards attached to them.
Price: US$322.64.
8 - Mega Charizard X ex (Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames)

Just like all the other Mega Evolutions in the current block, this is also a "Mega Hyper Rare", or Gold Full Art. It was illustrated by takuyoa.
Its main attack deals more damage if you discard Fire energies attached to your Pokémon. It is one of the most powerful attacks in the current meta, as it can easily deal lots of damage.
Price: US$357.53.
7 - Reshiram ex (Scarlet/Violet: White Flare)

To celebrate the return of Black & White, the Pokémon Company released monochromatic versions of the Unova legendaries: Reshiram and Zekrom. They, just like their previous 2011 versions, represent the concept of "black and white" in this generation.
Reshiram's second attack, Blazing Burst, is incredible. It deals a considerable amount of base damage and deals even more for each Prize card the opponent has taken. You'll need to discard one energy attached to Reshiram to use it, but it's worth it.
It's not a very high price to pay, considering it deals 380 damage if your opponent only has 1 Prize card left. This makes it an excellent attacker in any "Fire Box" list, both in Standard and Expanded.
Price: US$360.70.
6 - Mega Lucario ex (Mega Evolution: Base Set)

Lucario has been a fan favorite ever since it came out, so, naturally, its Mega Evolution was also a hit. It does a lot in the meta, particularly with Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104 in Standard.
In Expanded it also fits many decks, like Single Strike & Rapid Strike Urshifu.
Its first attack, Aura Jab, is a great way to recycle basic energies and attach them to benched Pokémon. It's what makes this card a staple.
Price: US$375.55.
5 - Victini (Scarlet/Violet: Black Bolt & White Flare)

Victini is considered the Victory Pokémon in Pokémon lore, and this version is a highly coveted Unova collectible. It is similar to Reshiram and Zekrom because it is also monochromatic.
It didn't stand out too much in the game itself, but it is very valuable to collectors.
Price:
Black Bolt version: US$414.40.
White Flare version: US$407.32.
4 - Zekrom ex (Scarlet/Violet: Black Bolt)

Just like its counterpart (Reshiram), Zekrom is highly popular because of its bold, elegant design. Its black palette invokes sophistication and power.
It does the same amount of damage as Reshiram, but it also deals 30 damage to itself, which can be a bit risky in Standard. However, none of this matters to collectors.
Price: US$416.77.
3 - Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex (Scarlet/Violet: Destined Rivals)

This card isn't strong, competitively speaking, but it is highly valuable because of a few things: it is nostalgic, since it's from Kanto, it references Team Rocket and Giovanni directly, it was highly featured in the first Pokémon movie, and also fits the Destined Rivals theme, as this set explores Trainer Partners.
These elements made it quite valuable for collectors.
Price: US$419.60.
2 - Mega Charizard X ex (Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames)

This Mega Charizard X is a Secret Illustration Rare created by danciao, who has just started working for the Pokémon Company.
It is quite similar to Mega Charizard X ex PFL 130 in terms of what it does, but it is actually a bit more rare. It is a 2025 masterpiece, definitely.
Price: US$476.36.
1 - Umbreon ex (Scarlet/Violet: Prismatic Evolutions)

Finally, the most expensive card of 2025 is a highly coveted collectible. Ever since Umbreon VMAX EVS 215's success in Sword & Shield: Evolving Skies, Umbreon cards have become incredibly valuable and popular.
This artwork, created by YASHIRO Nanaco, combines Art Nouveau elements with stained-glass and detailed borders. It resembles a Tarot card.

Full Art

It should become a lot more valuable soon.
Price: US$1.029.87.
