Introduction

In this article, we'll show you the most expensive "Rainbow Full Arts" all the way up from this block's Base Set to the final sets.

We'll also discuss the TAG TEAM-GX mechanic!

Please note that these prices only apply to English cards! Cards in other languages may have a different price because they're affected by their local currency.

Top 10 Most Expensive Rainbow TAG TEAM-GX Pokémon

10 - Garchomp & Giratina-GX (Sun/Moon: Unified Minds)

Our first card, Garchomp & Giratina, includes two of the most fearsome Dragons released in this block's third arc.

Garchomp is popular because of Cynthia and its design, and Giratina is popular because of its "dark" lore, which resembles Lucifer's fall from grace. In this case, Giratina rebelled against Arceus, the god of Pokémon.

Its second attack, Calamitous Slash, was extremely strong. If any enemy Pokémon had damage counters, you would deal 240 damage with it, which was a lot of damage then.

And, of course, there's its GX attack, GG End. Its first effect lets you pick any enemy Pokémon and force your opponent to discard it (including all cards attached to it). Then, its second effect lets you discard two enemy Pokémon instead of one, but only if this Pokémon has at least 3 extra Fighting energy attached to it.

Price: US$46.39.

9 - Celebi & Venusaur-GX (Sun/Moon: Team Up)

This is a nice card featuring Celebi, the voice of the forest, and the first Grass starter in the entire Pokémon franchise: Venusaur.

At the end of the Sun/Moon block, almost already in the Sword/Shield block, this card got some energy support with Rillaboom SHF 13, which made attacking with Celebi & Venusaur much easier.

Price: US$52.99.

8 - Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX (Sun/Moon: Unbroken Bonds)

This is the only Fairy TAG TEAM Pokémon, and it was a nightmare for Dragon decks at the time. These two Pokémon are also very popular among the community and have become even more so recently; their secret art version became a lot more valuable, so the Rainbow version will most likely follow its footsteps soon.

Price: US$55.

7 - Magikarp & Wailord-GX (Sun/Moon: Team Up)

Surprisingly, this card was considered under average for Standard at the time. It was also never relevant in Expanded, and most players struggled to build a good strategy for it.

It only became relevant because of Magikarp's evolution line.

Price: US$71.74.

6 - Latias & Latios-GX (Sun/Moon: Team Up)

Latias & Latios also didn't perform well in Standard nor Expanded. They're mostly remembered for their aesthetic and symbolism, as they travel together as Arceus messengers.

Even their designs and artworks complement each other, so they're even more valuable.

Price: US$80.

5 - Pikachu & Zekrom-GX (Sun/Moon: Team Up)

In our fifth spot, we have one of the best Electric cards of all time in terms of offensive power.

Its first attack, Full Blitz, let you add three basic Electric energies to your Pokémon in play in any way you'd like, and its GX attack, Tag Bolt dealt a good amount of damage just to start. If you used a few extra energies, you could also use its second effect and deal a considerable amount of damage to a Pokémon on your opponent's bench.

In Standard at the time, using Boltund V RCL 67 as a starter on turn 1 was essential to set up your Pikachu & Zekrom-GX TEU 184. Then, you'd use Thunder Mountain ◇ LOT 191 to discount the cost of your attacks by one Electric energy.

This card is valuable because it features the franchise's main mascot, and, of course, one of the Unova Dragons, which is popular among the community and considered one of the favorites by many (just like Reshiram, which was also featured in a TAG TEAM card).

Price: US$90.99.

4 - Gengar & Mimikyu-GX (Sun/Moon: Team Up)

Loading icon

This card features Gengar, one of the most beloved Ghost Pokémon around that, for years, has been at the top of the rankings in terms of popularity, and Mimikyu, which is also a popular favorite among fans.

Together, they were excellent attackers in Standard at the time. This card also featured a "stall control hand" strategy.

In Expanded, you nearly always must use one copy of this card in Psychic decks.

Price: US$117.12.

3 - Reshiram & Charizard-GX (Sun/Moon: Unbroken Bonds)

In our third place, we have Reshiram, an Unova Dragon, which was welcomed by many when it was announced. Next to it, we have Charizard, one of the most beloved Pokémon in the entire world.

In Standard, this card was incredibly strong, and you could use many resources to attach energies to it, like Welder UNB 189a, Fiery Flint DRM 60a, and Giant Hearth UNM 197.

In Expanded, this card is popular among "Fire Box" enthusiasts. It is an exceptional attacker because of all three of its attacks.

Price: US$129.44.

2 - Eevee & Snorlax-GX (Sun/Moon: Burning Shadows)

Loading icon

Ironically, this card was forgotten and underestimated for a long time. A couple of years ago, however, its value increased.

Eevee is already a popular Pokémon because of its eeveelutions, which gather fans across the world. Once people realized this card included Eevee and Snorlax, which is also a popular Pokémon, it became a lot more valuable.

Price: US$139.99.

1 - Mewtwo & Mew-GX (Sun/Moon: Unified Minds)

Loading icon

In our first spot, we have this card, which overcame Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX CEC 258 in terms of collection value. Mewtwo & Mew are one of the "first legendary Pokémon" that ever appeared in the Pokémon franchise, particularly the animated series and movies.

This card was very popular in Standard in the Sun/Moon era, but, in Expanded, it truly shines because of its ability, Perfection.

Price: US$162.75.

Honorable Mentions

Arceus & Dialga & Palkia-GX (Sun/Moon: Cosmic Eclipse)

Loading icon

This was one of the strongest TAG TEAM cards around. It stands out because of its GX attack, Altered Creation.

In Expanded, it is still incredibly strong in many decks. It is also versatile, as you can use it outside its Dragon archetype.

Price: US42.98.

Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GX (Sun/Moon: Unified Minds)

Loading icon

This card is valuable because of Raichu.

Price: US$43.79.
