Introduction

Greetings, Pokémon community! Today, we'll show you a few new lists with the new set, Mega Evolution!

New Decks with Mega Evolution

Mega Abomasnow ex

Loading icon

This list was originally built by Japanese players. It centers around Mega Abomasnow ex's first attack, Hammer-lanche, which discards the top 6 cards in your deck and deals 100 damage for each basic Water energy you discard this way.

This strategy is quite simple and perfect if you want to start playing Pokémon TCG with an aggressive list.

Mega Camerupt ex

This deck centers around "burning" your opponent.

To do that, it uses Volcanion ex JTG 31's ability. Then, it uses Mega Camerupt ex's first attack, Roasting Heat, to deal more damage. This Pokémon deals 160 extra damage if the enemy Pokémon is Burned.

In the end game, Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex TWM 141 is the main Pokémon.

Mega Manectric ex

This Electric deck centers around Mega Manectric ex, which has two attacks. The first one, Flash Ray, protects it from basic enemy Pokémon, and the second, Riotous Blasting, either deals 200 damage or 330 if you decide to discard all energies attached to it as well.

Furthermore, this list also plays several situational attackers to complement Mega Manectric ex:

- Iron Hands ex PRE 31. Its attack, Amp You Very Much, gives you extra Prize cards if you Knock Out an enemy Pokémon with it.

- Zekrom ex BLK 34 is better in the endgame, as it deals more damage the more Prize cards your opponent has taken.

Mega Lucario ex

This Mega Lucario ex list uses Lunatone MEG 74 to draw cards, but you'll need to put Solrock MEG 75 in play to do so. Then, all you need to do to draw cards is to discard one basic Fighting energy.

Discarding these Fighting energies will also set up Mega Lucario ex's attack, Aura Jab. It recycles 3 Fighting energies from the discard pile and lets you attach them to your Benched Pokémon however you like!

To deal even more damage, this list plays Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex PRE 58, which, besides ignoring weakness, resistance, and Pokémon effects, is also immune to enemy Pokémon with abilities, which is valuable in the current meta.

Mega Lucario ex + Cynthia's Garchomp ex: Mega Evolution Upgrade

This is an updated version of this listlink outside website.

The main combo involves using Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104's second attack, Draconic Buster, then retreating it and putting Mega Lucario ex MEG 77 in the active spot. Afterward, you'll use its attack, Aura Jab, to attach more energies to your Benched Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 104 and create a loop.

Mega Gardevoir ex

This is a variation of the "Garde-Box" archetype.

We already covered this archetype several times. If you'd like to see more, click herelink outside website.

Our suggestion for this list is playing Mystery Garden MEG 122, which draws a lot of cards in Psychic archetypes.

The goal is to take advantage of Gardevoir ex sv1 86's ability to attach energies to Mega Gardevoir ex MEG 60 and deal more damage with its attack, Mega Symphonia. Next, you'll use Dedenne ex sv2 93 to move damage counters from your Benched Pokémon to the active enemy Pokémon.

Mega Absol ex

This Mega Absol ex list is a "control" strategy. It focuses on sabotaging the enemy hand with cards like Xerosic's Machinations SFA 64, which goes great with Absol's second attack, Claw of Darkness.

And, obviously, we need to cover its first attack, Terminal Period, which automatically Knocks Out the enemy active Pokémon if it has exactly 6 damage counters!

To control the opponent even more, this list uses Munkidori PRE 44's ability, Adrena-Brain. It also plays Team Rocket's Venture Bomb DRI 179, which is quite useful in this meta.

Mega Latias ex

Loading icon

This archetype was also created by Japanese players and is an interesting solution for Mega Latias ex, which needs a unique set of energies to work. If you'd like to see more about it, click herelink outside website.

The Japanese solution was the combo with Ethan's Ho-Oh ex DRI 39 and Ethan's Magcargo DRI 36. Ho-Oh's ability attaches 2 basic Fire energies to one of your Benched Pokémon, as long as it is one of Ethan's Pokémon. This goes great with Magcargo.

If you pilot this deck correctly, with Latios MEG 101 in play and Mega Latias ex on your bench, you can then activate Latios' ability to make Mega Latias ex your active Pokémon and move energies from other Pokémon to it.

Mega Venusaur ex

Loading icon

This Mega Venusaur ex list centers around tanking damage by constantly healing itself. We've also already covered it in this articlelink outside website.

Its ability, Solar Transfer, pulls Grass energies from your deck and lets you attach them to another Mega Venusaur ex. You can also heal any damage with Wally's Compassion MEG 132.

The other Pokémon in this strategy is Meganium MEG 10, whose ability, Wild Growth, states, "Each basic Grass energy attached to all of your Pokémon provides two Grass energy". With it, you won't have any issue using Mega Venusaur ex's main attack.

To attach energies and draw cards, this list also plays Teal Mask Ogerpon ex PRE 12.
