Introduction
Greetings!
Today, we'll keep exploring Hoenn starters, more particularly, the Water starter, Swampert. We'll see the first Swamperts ever released, in the Ruby & Sapphire block in 2003, and the most recent ones.
Top 10 Best Swampert of All Time
10 - Swampert (Ruby/Sapphire: Crystal Guardians)

Our first Swampert is from Crystal Guardians. Its ability, Echo Draw, is a great source of card advantage, and makes any deck more consistent.

It is an excellent support Pokémon, but you can only play it in the U150 and Palace formats. It is not available in Expanded.
9 - Swampert (Diamond/Pearl: Great Encounters)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Swampert from the Diamond/Pearl block stands out because of its ability, Wash Out, which lets you move basic Water or Fighting energy from one benched Pokémon to your active Pokémon.
Just like the Swampert above, you can only play this card in the U150 and Palace formats.
8 - Swampert (Ruby/Sapphire: Base Set)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Swampert, from Ruby & Sapphire's Base Set, has an ability called Water Call that lets you move one Water energy from your hand to the active Pokémon. It is a simplified version of "Rain Dance".
It is only available in the U150 and Palace formats.
7 - Swampert (Sun/Moon: Celestial Storm)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This version, from the Sun/Moon block, has a powerful ability and an efficient attack.
This ability lets you discard one card in your hand to draw three cards from the top of your deck, which is a great source of card advantage. Its attack deals more damage according to how many Water energies are attached to it, so it is even more powerful with abilities like Blastoise BCR 31's or Baxcalibur sv2 60's.
It is available in Expanded.
6 - Swampert (Sword/Shield: Fusion Strike)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Another highlight in the Expanded format, this Swampert has an ability called Muddy Maker, which lets you attach one basic Water or Fighting energy to your Pokémon directly from your hand.
Its attack, Earthquake, deals 180 damage, but it has a drawback: it deals 20 damage to both benches. To not deal damage to your own bench, you can use Pokémon that protect it or that take advantage of any damage taken to deal even more damage with their attacks.
5 - Swampert (X/Y: Primal Clash)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Swampert, from the X/Y block, has an alpha ability that lets you attach extra energies to it whenever you manually attach any energies.
This ability has a great synergy with its attack, Hydro Pump, which deals more damage according to how many Water energies are attached to it. Furthermore, its other ability, Diving Search, makes its strategy more consistent, as it lets you get any card from your deck and add it to your hand.
4 - Swampert ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Team Magma VS Team Aqua)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Swampert ex, from the Ruby/Sapphire set, stands out because it is a powerful Fighting Pokémon, so it has an advantage against Electric Pokémon.
Its first attack, Hyper Pump, deals more damage according to how many energies are attached to it (up to 80 extra damage). Meanwhile, Crushing Wave deals damage to the enemy bench and lets you discard energies attached to enemy Pokémon if you hit your coin flip.
3 - Swampert ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Crystal Guardians)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Our third-best Swampert is Swampert ex from Crystal Guardians. Its ability, Energy Recycler, lets you get up to three energies from your discard pile and add them to your hand, but you'll have to pass your turn immediately afterward.

Its main attack deals extra damage if you discard cards from your hand, and can also deal damage to the enemy bench.
2 - Swampert-EX (X/Y: Promo Cards)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
This Swampert-EX is a great aggressive option. Its attack, Mud Flow, deals damage according to how many Water energies you reveal from your deck with it.
1 - Mega Swampert-EX (X/Y: Promo Cards)
![Loading icon](https://cdn.cardsrealm.com/images/carregando.gif)
Our best Swampert is Mega Swampert-EX, which has powerful attacks with extra effects. Its main attack deals more damage if you "mill" your cards (discard cards from the top of your deck) and your opponent's.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have a Spirit Link, so you'll lose your turn immediately after you evolve it. To make it even better in Expanded, I highly recommend you use Blastoise BCR 31 or Baxcalibur sv2 60.
