Introduction

Greetings, Pokémon community!

Today, we'll cover the most beautiful cards in Chaos Rising, the fourth base set in the Mega Evolution block.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Cards in Chaos Rising

10 - Surfing Beach (Ultra Rare/Full Art - 114/86)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by AYUMI ODASHIMA and is pretty peculiar because of one detail: there is a Wimpod in the background, close to the waves as they break over the sand. The regular version of the card, released in the Mega Evolution Base Set, doesn't feature this Pokémon.

9 - Special Energies (Reverse Foil - 84/86 | 85/86 | 86/86)

The way they shine is quite unique. Anyone who has held them in their hands knows what we're talking about.

8 - AZ's Tranquility (Secret Illustration Rare - 120/86)

As we mentioned in this article about the most expensive cards in this setlink outside website, this artwork was created by OKACHEKE, who is a prominent Pokémon Company artist.

Their digital works, thanks to the brush they use, are similar to real-life paintings, like this Hisuian Sneasler V ASR 175.

OKACHEKE started working for the Pokémon Company when they participated in a Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix. Later on, they worked on the Pokémon: Twilight Wings animated feature and the Detective Pikachu & The Mystery of the Missing Flan game.

6 - Ampharos (Illustration Rare - 90/86)

This card was created by saino misaki. They have created over 41 artworks for Pokémon.

Curiously, they also created this Pokémon's previous evolutions, namely Flaaffy SIT TG03 from Sword & Shield: Silver Tempest.

The greenery behind Ampharos and the dandelions swirling in the wind are absolutely charming.

5 - Metang (Illustration Rare - 94/86)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Kurata So. They had the brilliant idea to show Pokémon working alongside regular humans and using their abilities. For instance, this Metang uses its levitation skills to help construction workers carry metal beams, which directly refers to the fact that it is a Metal Pokémon.

They've also created other Pokémon in their day-to-day activities, like Dunsparce CRZ GG23 from Sword & Shield: Crown Zenith. It is shown resting in someone's room.

4 - Tauros (Illustration Rare - 96/86)

This card was created by Tsuyoshi Nagano, a popular Japanese artist. Besides their work for the Pokémon Company, they have also worked for several other franchises, particularly for KOEI. This company is famous for their game titles centered around Sengoku Jidai war generals, like Nobunaga Oda, who played an essential role in unifying Japan before the Edo period.

This Tauros, however, is depicted in a savannah. It's incredible how Nagano depicted the accurate vegetation and the sky in multiple shades of pink, lilac, cream, and light grey. It turned out spectacular and made this Pokémon's fur even more beautiful.

3 - Chespin (Illustration Rare - 87/86)

Image content of the Website

This card was created by Atsushi Furusawa, who excels at creating incredible backgrounds. They know how to masterfully explore different points of view, including the observer's, to make the background even more valuable. Not every artist can do this on this level.

Atsushi Furusawa also took part in a Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix with the Charizard above.

One of their most popular works is Dragonite V EVS 192, from Sword & Shield: Evolving Skies.

This Chespin is incredible because of the point of view from the tree trunk, as well as all the details on the bark, the sunbeams filtering through the leaves in bright flashes, the shadows in the canopy, the moss, and the other trees in the background.

2 - Xerneas (Illustration Rare - 91/86)

This card was created by YASHIRO Nanaco, who also created Umbreon ex PRE 161, the most expensive card in Scarlet & Violet: Prismatic Evolutions.

The vegetation around Xerneas is quite vivid, with soft, colorful leaves and twigs. It's a perfect parallel to the concept of "life" and directly references the fact that Xerneas represents "life" in Pokémon lore.

All of this is even more beautiful in this Art Nouveau style, which is known for exploring how ornamental and vivacious nature is.

1 - Froakie/Frogadier/Mega Greninja ex (Illustration Rare - 88/86 and 89/86 | Secret Illustration Rare - 116/86)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Susumu Maeya, who is also the mangaka behind The Food Diary of Miss Maid.

The Pokémon Company brilliantly gave this artist the opportunity to create Froakie's entire evolution line. Their artworks show this Pokémon's journey, as well as its connection to the water, through vivid colors. From swimming underwater to leaping out!
