The Twilight Masquerade brought us a few "baby" Pokémon.
Today, we'll discuss Conkeldurr TWM 105, a stage 2 Pokémon (usually with a lot of HP), whose second attack costs nothing whatsoever if Conkeldurr is affected by any special condition.
It is a great rogue deck if you want to have some fun.
Conkeldurr: Zero Energy, 250 Damage!
Decklist
Conkeldurr: Understanding Its Mechanic
As we mentioned before, you'll only have to worry about setting up Gutsy Swing, its second attack, which states: if Conkeldurr is affected by any special conditions, ignore all energy in this attack's costs.
Ad
It can be any special condition, but, for us, the best are Poisoned and Burned, as other conditions would prevent us from attacking.
So, we'll use Brute Bonnet sv4 123, and its ability, Toxic Powder. If this Pokémon has Ancient Booster Energy Capsule sv4 159 attached, both active Pokémon in the game are now Poisoned - that's the key to making this deck work!
Klawf: Second Attacker
Similar to Conkeldurr, Klawf sv4 105's first attack, Unhinged Scissors, deals 30 + 160 damage if it is affected by a special condition.
Once again, please note how important Brute Bonnet sv4 123 is to support this deck.
Recursive Pokémon
Trainer Cards
Supporter to Filter Items and Tools
This card is ideal to get Nest Ball sv1 181 or Ultra Ball sv1 196 from your deck so you can develop your game plan, and it also gets you tools.
One of your priorities with Arven sv3 186 will be Nest Ball sv1 181 for Brute Bonnet sv4 123, alongside Ancient Booster Energy Capsule sv4 159.
You can also get a Rare Candy PGO 69 to evolve a Timburr TWM 103 into Conkeldurr TWM 105, and next get another support tool, such as:
1) Maximum Belt TEF 154, to deal more damage against active Pokémon ex.
2) Defiance Band sv1 169, to deal more damage against any enemy Pokémon if you're losing the game.
3) Luxurious Cape sv4 166, to make Conkeldurr TWM 105 more durable by giving it 100 extra HP.
Supporter to Recycle and Draw Cards
As Timburr TWM 103's evolution line, Timburr TWM 103, Gurdurr TWM 104, and Conkeldurr TWM 105, is 3-1-3, and therefore quite limited, I decided to add this card. It is a way for us to recycle cards with Super Rod sv2 188, as Miriam gets 5 Pokémon in your discard pile and shuffles them back into your deck. She also draws you cards as a bonus.
But be careful to not lose by "deck out": if you use her too late and/or if you don't have Iono sv2 185 to come back on the next turn, you might just put yourself in a tough spot.
Supporter to Renew Your Hand
Supporter to Catch Enemy Pokémon
Supporter to Sabotage Your Opponent's Hand
Ad
If you play Iono sv2 185, even if she affects you as well, and Bibarel BRS 121, you'll bounce back from the cards you had to shuffle, depending on how many Prize cards your opponent had when you played Iono.
Items to Get Pokémon from your Deck
Item to Recycle Pokémon and Basic Energy
This card is essential to preserve your Timburr, Gurdurr, and Conkeldurr, and, at the very least, your Brute Bonnet as well.
Tools
Maximum Belt TEF 154 deals more damage against Pokémon ex: 300 base damage. If you combine it with Poison and the two counters per turn you'll have with Radiant Hisuian Sneasler LOR 123's ability, you might deal up to 320 damage, which is enough to knock out a Dragapult ex TWM 130!
Ancient Booster Energy Capsule sv4 159 is essential for Brute Bonnet sv4 123, as we said before when we discussed recursive Pokémon, and is the key to attack with Conkeldurr for free.
Defiance Band sv1 169 is useful if you're losing the game, as you'll deal 30 extra damage with it. It is extremely powerful if you play it with Counter Catcher sv4 160 to pull an opponent's Pokémon and knock it out.
Luxurious Cape sv4 166 gives extra HP to any Pokémon that doesn't have a *Rule Box - so, it is essential for Conkeldurr TWM 105 - and, at the same time, you can use this card's downside to your favor as well.
Stadium
This Stadium is useful to set up the Pokémon on your board as fast as possible, as most of them have a lot of HP.
Special Energy
This card is useful only for Klawf sv4 105's first attack, Unhinged Scissors, but it will deal 20 less total damage if you do use it.
Matchups
Favorable
- Against Luxray ex TWM 68, because of its weakness.
- Against Miraidon ex PR-SV 28 and Regieleki VMAX SIT 58, because of their weaknesses.
- Against Iron Hands ex sv4 70, because of its weakness.
- Against Iron Thorns ex TWM 77, because of its weakness.
- Against Lugia VSTAR SIT 139. Even if Lugia itself is resistant to your deck, it depends on other attackers, like Iron Hands ex sv4 70 or even Cinccino TEF 137 (which is weak against the Fighting type).
- Against Roaring Moon ex PR-SV 67.
Unfavorable
- Against Gardevoir ex sv4pt5 29 and Munkidori TWM 95.
- Against Dragapult ex TWM 130.
- Against Charizard ex sv4pt5 54.
Final Words
This deck is perfect if you want to save some money and still have fun with a "rogue" strategy!
Thank you for reading, and see you next time!
