Hello everybody. I'm Rodrigo, bringing news about the Pokémon TCG and its vast media. And with about a month before the last Sword/Shield expansion, the Silver Tempest, speaking of the West, in Japan the use of parts of the cards that will make up the expansion is already a reality.

Given that, I'm going to elaborate on the deck that will have a strong influence on the competitive scene soon and will probably debut at the São Paulo International: the Regidrago VStar.

Getting to know the Silver Tempest expansion

But what is this expansion all about? As many may not know, American expansions as we know them are general junctions of at least two Japanese expansions converted to the West.

We have here, for example, the most recent, Lost Originlink outside website, being the junction of Dark Phantasma and Lost Abyss.

Silver Tempest is based on the Japanese expansion called Paradigm Trigger, which is currently available in Japan, China, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia.

The cards are being released slowly, but as of 10/21/2022 there will probably be a good part of the list, more than 2/3 released, at best. And the western expansion will debut on 11/11/2022.

Regidrago VStar: The ultimate draconic power of Standard!

And in these news, we have a card that is strong in the Japanese championships, which is the Regidrago V and Regidrago VStar. Shall we meet the cards?

Regidrago V

HP: 220

Weakness: None

Resistance: None

Retreat cost: Three colorless energies

Pokémon V Rule Box: If it is KO'd, the opponent takes two prize cards

1) Attack - Celestial Roar: For two colorless energies, discard the top three cards of the deck. And if those discarded cards are energies, attach them to Regidrago-V.

2) Attack - Dragon Laser: For two grass energies and one fire energy, deals 130 base damage and chooses an opponent's Benched Pokémon to deal 30 damage to it.

HP: 280

Weakness: None

Resistance: None

Retreat cost: Three colorless energies

Pokémon VStar Rule Box: If it is KO'd, the opponent takes two prize cards

1) Attack - Draconic Visions: For two grass and one fire energy, you can choose any attack from one of your Dragon-type Pokémon in your discard pile.

2) VStar Ability - Star Legacy: On your turn, you discard the top seven cards of your deck, and then you can take two cards from the discard pile to your hand (you cannot use VStar attacks or VStar abilities more than once per game).

Given this, we have great potential with the VStar card that can copy any Dragon-type Pokémon attack, which energized the archetype, and the Japanese lists in dozens of possibilities:

Major Pokémon to copy

With this list, we have:

- With Garchomp V ASR 117 we have the Sonic Strike (W)(F)(F)(C), where you discard 3 energies from this Pokémon. This attack does 220 damage to one of the opponent's Pokémon (doesn't apply Weakness or Resistance to the opponent's Bench).

- With Duraludon VMAX EVS 123 we have G-Max Pulverization (F)(M)(M), where it deals 220 damage and this attack is not affected by any effects of the opponent's Active Pokémon.

- With Hisuian Goodra VSTAR LOR 136 we have Rolling Iron (W)(M)(C), where you deal 200 damage and next turn, it takes 80 less damage from opponent's attacks in next turn (after applying weakness and resistance).

- With Giratina VSTAR LOR 131 we have two options:

1) Attack - Lost Impact (G)(P)(C), deals 280 base damage and discard two energies attached to Giratina VStar to the Lost Zone.

2) VStar Attack - Star Requiem (G)(P), you can only use this attack if you have at least 10 cards in the Lost Zone, and if you can fulfill it, your opponent's Active Pokémon is automatically Knocked Out.

Most likely you'll use the first attack, Lost Impact, to be the copied attack, as the deck list doesn't focus on the Lost Box.

Secondary Pokémon to copy

Dragonite

HP: 160

Weakness: None

Resistance: None

Retreat cost: Two colorless energies

1) Attack - Dragon Claw: For three colorless energies, it deals 80 damage.

2) Attack - Energy Hurricane: For one water energy, one electric energy, and two colorless energy, deals 180 damage, and you search your deck for three basic energies and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like.

1) Attack - Bite: A colorless energy, you deal 30 damage. (Of course you won't use this)

2) Attack - Judgment Surge: for a grass energy, a fighter energy, and a colorless energy, this attack does 40 damage to one of the opponent's Pokémon for each prize card the opponent has taken (do not apply weakness and resistance on the opponent's bench).

Recursive Pokémon

- Lumineon V BRS 40 is like the "Tapu Lele-GX" of the new generation because of its ability Luminous Sign that if it is played from your hand to your bench, you can search for a Trainer Supporter card in your deck and put it in your hand, thus looking for the three most important Trainer cards in the deck, including Gardenia's Vigor ASR 143 (which we'll talk about later).

- Crobat V DAA 104 uses its Dark Asset ability that, if played from your hand to the bench, you draw cards until you have six in your hand.

Trainer Cards

- Gardenia's Vigor ASR 143 is for powering up your Pokémon. You draw 2 cards, then you attach two Grass Energy from your hand to one of your Benched Pokémon.

- Boss's Orders BRS 132 serves to pull a Pokémon from the opponent's Bench to bring it as active and close with a knockout, and in Regidrago's hands, this will do great damage.

- Roxanne ASR 150 serves to disrupt the opponent's hand. If your opponent is down to three prize cards to win the game, you and your opponent shuffle your hands, in which the opponent draws two cards, and you draw six cards. Roxanne is like a more improved and stronger N DEX 96.

- Stormy Mountains EVS 161 is used to search for an Electric or Dragon Pokémon once per turn, reveal it to the opponent and put it in your hand, and of course, it will look for Dragon types because of the deck's strategy.

- Training Court RCL 169 is used between the turns (yours and the opponent's) to get a basic energy from the discard pile and put it in your hand.

Conclusions

This deck is definitely the type I would build to play competitively with brute force, the power cost of Regidrago is not limited to copying the same energies from other dragons, using only grass and fire energies for that. Always with an aggressive 220, 280, or sniper damage, etc; being versatile for any situation.

It's a no weakness archetype that leaves practically less of a headache like we had in the Black/White block with its own type and in the X/Y and Sun/Moon eras with the fairy type, which leaves this card with great durability without taking this double damage against the weakness that every Pokémon always has in some form.
