Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution - Top 10 Most Expensive Cards

Greetings, Pokémon community! A new Pokémon TCG block is right around the corner, and this one will center around Kalos. The new starting point is actually the new VGC, Pokémon: Legends Z-A, which highlights Mega Evolutions.

In this article, we'll show you some of these "Mega Pokémon" as well as a few very valuable new cards in the Pokémon TCG market.

10 - Acerola's Mischief (Secret Illustration Rare - 183/132)

This character has conquered the heart of many players who also enjoy Alola, the region Gen VII is centered around (Sun & Moon). All cards featuring Acerola in any way have become more expensive, as this one has.

This card lets you, when your opponent has 2 Prize cards left or less, pick one of your Pokémon in play and protect them from enemy Pokémon ex, both in terms of damage and effects.

Price: US$50.

9 - Bulbasaur - Stamped Logo - (Illustration Rare - 133/132)

This Bulbasaur will only be available as a promo card in Enhanced Booster Boxes. It features a unique stamped logo.

Price: US$57.51.

8 - Mega Kangaskhan ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 181/132)

This card was illustrated by GOTO minori, a recently hired Pokémon artist. They have only created 10 cards so far.

Its cartoonish style and flat colors make it unique and lively. Kangaskhan, a nostalgic Pokémon from Kanto, has a dedicated fan base as well.

Its attack resembles the X & Y: Flashfire version. This card will also have you flip coins until you get "tails" and deal more damage for each "heads" you get.

Price: US$83.

7 - Lillie's Determination (Secret Illustration Rare - 184/132)

This card is quite useful in competitive decks because it draws lots of cards.

Its effect lets you shuffle your hand back into your deck and draw 6 new cards. However, if you have exactly 6 Prize cards left, you'll draw 8 cards instead of 6.

It was illustrated by satoma, who competed at the 2022 Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest and has already created 20 cards for Pokémon TCG, including the well-received Cresselia SFA 71.

Price: US$161.

6 - Mega Latias ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 181/132)

This card became expensive because it is quite efficient and because Latias has a dedicated fan base. It actually became more popular because of Latias & Latios-GX TEU 170 from Sun & Moon.

5 - Mega Venusaur ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 177/132)

It's clear Mega Venusaur ex will be incredibly popular among collectors because it is a Kanto Pokémon. Because of all the nostalgia surrounding it, it will certainly become even more valuable as time goes on.

As for its role in the actual TCG, Mega Venusaur ex is relevant in the meta because of all the Grass support seeing play right now, like Meganium MEG 10 and Yanmega ex DRI 3. These two cards let you attach Grass energies to your Pokémon for very few resources.

This artwork was created by mashu, who is known for their flowery style.

Price: US$221.98.

4 - Mega Lucario ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 179/132)

This card stands out for its dynamic and detailed illustration, created by Atsushi Furusawa. The background is also pretty rich. Their previous work, like Dragonite V EVS 192, is just as detailed.

3 - Mega Gardevoir ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 178/132)

Mega Gardevoir ex stands out for its artwork, which features Art Nouveau elements and mosaics and actually shows its evolution line around the corners.

The card itself is promising in Standard. It is already viable in some GardeBox versions, as we've seen in this article.

It was illustrated by Raita Kazam, who has been working with the Pokémon Company since 2022.

Price: US$326.

2 - Mega Gardevoir ex (Mega Hyper Rare - 187/132)

This is the second most expensive card in this set because it is a Mega Hyper Rare, also called Gold Full Art in the Scarlet & Violet set, the new card rarity featured in this set.

Price: US$600.

1 - Mega Lucario ex (Mega Hyper Rare - 188/132)

Just like Mega Gardevoir ex MEG 187, this Mega Lucario ex is the most expensive card in this list because it is a Mega Hyper Rare. It is incredibly rare and valuable.

Price: US$716.
