Best Decks with Mega Rising

Today, we'll explore the best decks with the new set, Mega Rising. We'll go through the best-performing lists in the game, both for competitive events and the ranked queue, which are also some of the most popular lists right now.

Furthermore, we'll show you exactly how to play each one and why they're so strong nowadays. Let's dive right in!

Updated Suicune ex & Greninja

In our last article, we predicted a list like this would see play soon, and we were right. Greninja ex is one of the best filler cards in all archetypes that play regular Greninja.

This card is simply perfect with Suicune ex, which became the best archetype for two months straight when the last set came out. It is still the best deck in the meta even now, after a new set came out.

Greninja ex is a small addition, but very relevant. Now, this deck has another win condition, which makes it a lot more versatile and ready to deal with difficult matchups that it couldn't before. It simply didn't have enough damage to defeat the opponent, but now it does.

Greninja ex's ability lets us move Water Pokémon around for free once per turn, which means we'll always be ahead in tempo.

Another new card in this list is May, which is great in strategies centered around stage 2 Pokémon.

This deck in particular uses two Giant Capes and just one Cyrus, but you can switch this up and use two Cyrus and only one Giant Cape.

Mega Altaria ex & Indeedee ex

This new archetype is quite well-built and very difficult to face. It combines several disruptive elements and heals and can deal more damage than most decks.

The main idea behind it is to put lots of Pokémon on your bench to deal more damage with Mega Altaria ex. To do that, this list plays many Psychic Pokémon that have very useful attacks.

Jirachi, for instance, is great against Mega Gyarados ex or any archetype that plays basic Pokémon that don't have a lot of HP on their bench. Chingling is an excellent way to delay the opponent's game plan, considering its attack, which doesn't cost any energies, prevents them from using items like Pokéball or Repel.

Sableye is an alternative win condition in case you can't find Mega Altaria ex because it deals 70 damage for just two energies. For a basic Pokémon, that is, not a Pokémon ex nor a Mega Pokémon, that's a lot of damage. It is also your best weapon against Oricorio.

Lastly, we have Indeedee ex, which heals your active Pokémon each turn.

Together, these Pokémon make your very first turns extremely versatile and adaptable to any matchup.

You'll end the game with your Mega Altaria ex, dealing 130 damage each turn for just two energies, which is a reasonable amount of damage. It's not much, but it is quite troublesome to the opponent.

This deck is also perfect to test out some new cards: Lisia looks in your deck for basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less, and Copycat shuffles your hand into your deck and lets you draw as many cards as your opponent has in hand.

Lisia is quite intuitive, considering this deck plays many Pokémon with 50 HP or less. As for Copycat, you'll use it when you have too many unnecessary cards and need to find some win conditions as fast as possible, like Mega Altaria ex or Sableye.

Mega Absol ex & Oricorio

This list focuses entirely on "restricting" the opponent. You can "restrict" the damage they deal by playing Oricorio in the active spot or "restrict" the cards they use if you attack with Mega Absol ex.

Only use Darkness energies, and always start with Pichu in the active spot. Attach Pichu's Electric energies to your Oricorio to start setting up, and the Darkness energies to Mega Absol ex.

Depending on the matchup, leave Oricorio or Mega Absol ex in your active spot. When you finish setting up both, attach some energies to your Darkrai ex, and that's it. These are all the win conditions in this list.

This deck doesn't deal a lot of damage, but it significantly delays any enemy strategy. Mega Absol ex's effect can win matches all by itself by simply forcing the opponent to discard cards.

Try to discard their card draw, like Professor's Research and May. Next, remove cards like Cyrus or Sabrina, then their heals, like Erika, Pokémon Center Lady, and, lastly, Mars.

This deck is extremely easy to pilot and great to build because you only need three cards from the new set: 2x Mega Absol ex and 1 Copycat.

Mega Blaziken ex & Entei ex

Out of all the lists in this article, this is by far the easiest and simplest to build. It is also the weakest.

The main idea behind it is to Stat-Check the opponent. This means your Pokémon are slightly stronger than theirs. They have more HP and deal more damage. And that's it.

It is the closest thing to an aggro deck we have in Pokémon Pocket.

Your main way to set up is Entei ex, which is, by far, the worst of the legendary beasts. It only works in this list because it is the only card that draws Fire cards. Unlike Suicune ex and Raikou ex, Entei ex can't be an attacker. It exclusively draws cards in this list.

It doesn't deal a lot of damage and isn't reliable. Instead, you should focus solely on evolving Torchic into Mega Blaziken ex and attacking with it.

Mega Blaziken ex is extremely straightforward. It has a lot of HP, deals a reasonable amount of damage, and also Burns the enemy Pokémon. This will be quite helpful when you need to knock them out.

Besides Pokémon, the main card in this list is the new item, Flame Patch, which might, perhaps, be the strongest card in this set. It solves all the typical problems Fire decks used to have, like attaching energies. With Flame Patch, you'll set up your Pokémon in only one turn and won't get behind if the opponent forces you to discard energies.

Finally, against strategies that use Oricorio, use Blaziken B1-035, which was released in this set as well.
