As we will have new releases here in the West next year, today we'll discuss the new products that were announced for the new special set, Paldean Fates.
Paldean Fates: The Context of the Set
The special set, Paldean Fates, will be released on December 1st, 2023, in Japan. For us in the West, it will be released on January 26th, 2024.
It is the second special set in the Scarlet & Violet set ("151" was the first). As the company itself announced, this set will have the same visual identity as its predecessors, Hidden Fates, from Sun & Moon and Shining Fates, from Sword Shield*.

The community had already heard the rumors about this trademark name, and I even commented on it in this article from March 30th, 2023.
This set will have cards from this block's Base Set up to the cards from the "151" special set. More than 240 cards are expected, considering the regular cards, some reprints, unseen cards, special art cards (such as the Secret Rare Illustration cards), and, of course, this set's biggest highlight: the shiny Pokémon, which will count for more than 130 cards, besides Pokémon ex.

Paldean Fates - Mini Tins
This product has 2 Paldean Fates boosters. Each tin brings a mosaic shard, and, if you join all 5 art shards of each product together, you'll be able to recreate the featured illustration, which will be related to the Pokémon in the tins: Maushold, Smoliv, Tinkatink, Finizen and Flamigo. They'll be released on February 9th, 2024, for the price of US$9.99 each.
Paldean Fates - Tins
Many fans will probably run after this product due to Charizard ex Terastal Shiny, which is included here and a guaranteed buy. Besides this Pokémon, we'll also have Donphan's Paradox versions: Great Tusk ex (Ancient Paradox) and Iron Treads ex (Future Paradox) - both shiny.
These will be released on February 9th, 2024 for the price of US$29.99 each, and will include:
- The card with the shiny Pokémon chosen.
- The digital code for this shiny Pokémon in TCG Live.
- Four Paldean Fates boosters (10 Pokémon or Trainer cards, and the 11th card will be a basic energy. It will also have the digital codes for these cards in TCG Live).
It's worth noting that this is the European model, and, therefore, the tin's shape is more compacted, unlike the American version. There is also a subtle difference between their contents, because in this product itself, instead of 4 boosters, we'll have 5 boosters.
American version of the tin:

Paldean Fates: Card Review
As I mentioned, this set will contain a mix of some reprinted Pokémon cards from previous sets, from the base sets and the "151" special set, and also new Pokémon. The same can be said for the Trainer cards. I'll comment on them more thoroughly below.

Ability - Flare Veil: this ability makes this Pokémon immune to enemy attack effects (effects aren't considered the same as damage).
Attack - Combustion Blast (F) (F): deal 50 damage.

2) Ability - Dazzling Gaze: if this Pokémon is set as the active Pokémon, your opponent will have to spend one extra colorless energy (C) to attack with their Pokémon.
3) Attack - Psy Ball (P): deals 30 damage plus 30 damage for each energy attached to both active Pokémon (both Espathra ex and the enemy Pokémon).
Great Tusk ex
1) Ability - Quaking Destruction: if this Pokémon is set as the active Pokémon, at the end of your turn, discard 5 cards from the top of your deck.
2) Attack - Great Bash (F)(C)(C)(C): deal 260 damage, and this attack isn't affected by your opponent's active Pokémon.
Iron Treads ex

Clive
Supporter: your opponent reveals their hand. Draw 2 cards for each Supporter card you find there when you activate this effect.
Students of Paldea
Supporter: look in your deck for a Pokémon that doesn't have a Rule Box, reveal it and place it in your hand. If you have another card with the same name as this card ("Students in Paldea") in your discard pile, you'll be able to look in your deck for another Pokémon that doesn't have a Rule Box, and next, shuffle your deck. (Pokémon ex, Pokémon V, etc., have Rule Box).
Moonlit Hill
Stadium: for both players, during their respective turns, each player will be able to discard a basic psychic energy (P) from their hand and by doing so, they will heal 30 damage from all their respective Pokémon in play.
This card came from the Japanese sub set Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 3 (from July 28, 2023), as a record of "(SV-P Promo 095)"; and that it will be in this collection in the western version.
TM Crisis Shot
Tool: you'll only be able to use this tool if your opponent has only one Prize Card left to win the game; like so, you'll deal 280 damage with this attack.
(TM Tools Rule: you equip it to any Pokémon of yours in play, and, at the end of the turn, you'll discard this tool.)
