Introduction
Pokémon TCG's new base set, Surging Sparks, is finally out! It was released on November 8th, 2024, so we can finally see how much each card costs.
For this article, we'll use American dollars as our reference.
Keep in mind this set includes Pikachu ex!
Top 10 Most Expensive Cards: Surging Sparks
10 - Night Stretcher (Gold Full Art/Hyper Rare - 251/191)
The regular version of this card first showed up in Shrouded Fable, the special set, as a "staple" to recycle resources. It lets you pick one basic Pokémon or energy from your discard pile and put it in your hand.

It was included in this base set as a Gold Full Art, so it's great for collectors.
Price: US$40.
9 - Latios (Illustration Rare - 203/191)
Considered one of the most beautiful cards from this set (keep an eye out for our next article, featuring the prettiest cards from Surging Sparks!), Latios appears here next to its partner, Latias ex. This card will certainly attract collectors who love these Pokémon.
Price: US$45.
8 - Jasmine's Gaze (Secret Illustration Rare - 245/191)
Johto's Steel gym leader, Jasmine, was the first character that represented this archetype in the VGC. This card will fetch a good price because of its nostalgic appeal and this character's popularity, despite its somewhat uninteresting effect.
Price: US$50.
7 - Alolan Exeggutor ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 242/191)
Alolan Exeggutor ex features a vibrant, tropical background and a "vaporwave" aesthetic. It stands out in the metagame as an attacker for Regidrago VSTAR SIT 136.
Price: US$60.
6 - Pikachu ex (Gold Full Art/Hyper Rare - 247/191)
In our sixth slot, we have Gold Full Art Pikachu ex. Its attack, Topaz Bolt, deals 300 damage, but you'll have to discard all energies attached to it. It is more than enough to knock out many meta Pokémon.
You can deal even more damage with it if you play Gravity Mountain SSP 177 as well, as this Stadium nerfs stage 2 Pokémon in play by 30 HP.
Price: US$70.
5 - Lisia's Appeal (Secret Illustration Rare - 246/191)
Lisia, who first showed up in the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire remake, is a Pokémon coordinator in Sootopolis City. She's also Wallace*'s niece, an ex-Hoenn champion and gym leader himself. Lisia might not be as iconic as her uncle, but stands out in the games as a pop star.
Price: US$85.
4 - Milotic ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 237/191)
In our fourth slot, we have Milotic ex. This card and its basic version, Feebas SSP 198, complement each other, as they show its evolution coming out of the water.
Competitively, its ability is quite useful because it prevents any damage and effects of attacks from enemy Terastal Pokémon done to it.
Price: US$87.
3 - Hydreigon ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 240/191)
Hydreigon ex, popular because of its connection to the villain Ghetsis, and its design, which was inspired by a mythological creature, the many-headed Hydra, occupies our third slot. Competitively, its first attack stands out because of its "mill" effect, as it discards three cards from the top of your opponent's deck.
This card was illustrated by Akira Egawa, one of the most prestigious artists from the new Pokémon generation. They are also known for their previous work with Terastal Pokémon.
Price: US$90.
2 - Latias ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 239/191)

In our second place, we have Latias ex, which complements its partner, Latios* (our 9th slot). These cards are a nice set, and a true gift for collectors who appreciate this Pokémon couple.
In competitions, its ability lets you retreat your basic Pokémon for free.
Price: US$200.
1 - Pikachu ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 238/191)
In our first place, we have Secret Art Pikachu ex. Ever since this artwork was leaked, we've been speculating how much it would cost, particularly in the west.
Currently, it is one of the most valuable cards from this set, next to Greninja ex TWM 214.
Price: US$400.
