Hello everybody. I'm Rodrigo, and I'm here to bring you more ideas and deck possibilities for the Standard format in the Pokémon TCG.
In this article, with the hype of the expansion Lost Origin, we are going to elaborate on another card from it, Rotom-V, which allows discarding Item Tools cards to deal damage!
Rotom V: Discard Tools
Deck Analysis
Rotom features the Instant Charge ability, which during that turn, you can draw 3 cards from the top of the deck, and if you do, your turn ends.

Its Scrap Short attack, for two electric energies, deals damage for each tool card that was discarded to the discard pile and that will be sent to the Lost Zone, so 40 damage for each Tool card that pays this tribute.
Considering the deck has 18 Tools, your maximum damage potential is 720 damage!
That, of course, if you keep the Choice Belt from being discarded, to be able to complement at the beginning of the game some damage that closes to knock out a high HP Pokémon like VStar or a VMax. Apart from 4 Choice Belt, you still have 14 tools to deal 560 damage!
The deck combo is in this schematic set: Tool Box LOR 168 to search for Tools, and then use Professor's Research BRS 147 to discard your hand full of these cards, ensuring they are in the discard pile to use at your attack.
Recursive Pokémon
1) Diancie ASR 68 with its Princess's Curtain Ability, if it's your Active Pokémon, it inhibits the effects of Supporter cards that can target basic Pokémon on your Bench — that is, it can prevent your opponent from using a Boss's Orders to pull Rotom-V for a knock out.
2) Crobat V DAA 104 uses its Dark Asset ability that, if played from your hand to the bench, you draw cards until you have six in your hand.
Trainer Cards
Raihan EVS 152 can only be played if your Active Pokémon was Knocked Out in the previous turn. You attach an energy from the discard pile to one of your Pokémon in any way you want, and you also search your deck for a card you want, putting it in your hand.
- Professor's Research BRS 147 serves to discard your hand and draw seven cards in a row.
- Boss's Orders BRS 132 is used to pull a Pokémon from the opponent's Bench to perform a specific knockout.
- Pal Pad SSH 172 is the recycling of Trainer Supporter cards, and keep the consistency with Raihan EVS 152.
- Tool Box LOR 168 is used to look at the top seven cards of your deck and if there are Tool Item type cards, you can take all these cards, reveal them and put them in your hand. The others return to the deck and are shuffled.
- Exp. Share BST 126 is to share energies between Pokémon.
- Choice Belt BRS 135 is precisely to close damage, granting 30 more damage against Pokémon V of the format (either VMax, VStar or VUnion).
- The Stadium Tower of Darkness BST 137 serves as a “Draw Power” for two cards, but when doing so, you need to discard a card from your hand of the archetype Single Strike, which we enter with Single Strike Scroll of the Fanged Dragon EVS 158, which is clearly only for Duraludon-VMax and there is no need to explain the effect of the tool.

Since it's the kind of tool needed to be discarded to create Rotom V's damage effect, it's in our deck for synergy.
- Special energy card, the only one in the deck. It serves as a "Draw Power" for the Electric type because if a Pokémon of that archetype is linked to it, you draw two cards.
Format Archetypes
Advantages
This deck easily goes head-to-head with double damage against any Water Pokémon that have a high Electric Weakness in the format like Origin Forme Palkia-VStar, Suicune-V, Greninja-VUnion, and even Flying Pikachu VMax that even though it is an "electric" type, it is considered as "flying" because of its name and with a weakness to electric, taking high damage against Rotom V.
And not only because of the abuse of weaknesses, but as a high damage attacker, Rotom can easily finish off any VStar of the moment like Giratina VStar and Arceus VStar, as well as VMax Pokémon with large amounts of HP.
Disadvantages
Pokémon that have immunity to damage that if the opponent has special energies, such as Duraludon VMax that can get in the way if your Rotom V has the Speed Lightning Energy equipped.
Additionally, Fighting-type Pokémon like Urshifu VMax – Rapid Strike, Aerodactyl VStar, Galarian Zapdos V deal double damage due to weakness.
Pokémon that inhibit damage from basic Pokémon, like Flying Pikachu-VMax in Arceus-VStar decks, which can often end our game as well.
Conclusions
It's a strong and aggressive deck for anyone who wants to start playing Pokémon TCG, but with the mechanics of discarding tools, it also takes a little study to get familiar with the deck and know how to manage the search for tools and discard them at the right moment to deal the damage, but it's not like a puzzle or anything like that.
It's worth the investment and deck building, for being able to deal against the big decks of the format for little energy, being an aggressive deck with a high damage output if you speed up its requirements.
