Introduction
Today, we'll show you how to play a list that is once again one of the best in the entire game: Magnezone.
This archetype has been around for a while and was, for a long time, the best in the game in many past metas. Now, it has returned as one of the best answers to this Suicune ex meta and as one of the most consistent lists in the entire game. Let's see how it works.
Budget Magnezone - Easy to Build and Easy to Pilot

The first thing that stands out in it is that it is a budget list because it only plays 3 cards from the latest set. The rest are old cards from the first and second sets.
This means most players already have most cards to build it, including the main ones, like Magnezone and Magneton.
This strategy is also pretty unique because the stage 1 Pokémon in the evolution line is as important as the stage 2 Pokémon. You must keep Magneton on your bench for a long time, attaching energies to itself.
Main Strategy and Strengths
The main idea behind this list is to stall the game with Oricorio or Chingling in the active spot early on.
Stalling in this case means delaying the game, both for you and the opponent, so that you have enough time to set your plans in motion. You need time to attach energies with Magneton, in particular.
Oricorio is immune to Pokémon ex, and Chingling is currently one of the best frontline Pokémon in the entire game because it prevents the opponent from playing Poké-Ball or Repel on turn 1. This will delay them considerably. For at least one turn, they'll be locked down.
Once Magnezone is in play, you'll be ready to deal damage to the opponent and knock out a few Pokémon. Magnezone has a fair amount of HP and deals a fair amount of damage. However, because it isn't a Pokémon ex nor a Mega Pokémon, it won't hurt as much if the opponent knocks out one of them.
You'll easily be able to set up a second Magnezone and keep putting pressure on the opponent. They'll be forced to knock out more of your stage 2 Pokémon and another Oricorio or Chingling to win.
Weaknesses
One of the problems you'll have with this list is that it doesn't deal a lot of damage, which could hurt in a few matches.
You'll have an advantage against the best deck in the meta but not against other decks, like Mega Blaziken ex and other Mega Pokémon.
This means your matches will last a long time, and this could give the opponent a window to come back into the game.
Think of Magnezone as an incredibly strong list in the mid-game that struggles against early-game decks and straight up loses to late-game decks. However, it completely checkmates the opponent in the mid-game.
Tips and Tricks
Try to do as much as you can every turn and spend your cards. This is important because of Cyrus, who will refill your hand.
If you think your opponent will knock out your Magneton on the following turn, evolve it, even if you haven't attached any energy to it with its effect.
Oricorio is the best stall card in the game and can be an attacker. It only deals a bit of damage, but because it is immune to Pokémon ex, the opponent will have to figure out a way to knock it out.
Use Pokémon Center Lady whenever your Pokémon takes 30 damage or more. Remember: spend the cards you have as soon as possible.
Under no circumstances start the game with Magnemite in the active spot.
