Introduction

The third base set in the Mega Evolution block, Perfect Order, is already out! So, let's discuss the most beautiful cards in it!

Top 10 Most Beautiful Cards in Perfect Order

10 - Decidueye ex (Regular Art - 12/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by aky CG Works, who uses 3D tools in a very creative way.

Decidueye is shown aiming an arrow with its wing in a pretty well-done pose. It's a simple artwork, but it captures this Pokémon's essence and features a pretty cool effect: "an object" breaking the limits of the 2D illustration, in this case, the arrow. This was the detail that stood out the most to me.

9 - Special Energies (Reverse Foil - 86/88 | 87/88 | 88/88)

Image content of the Website

Seeing these cards in your hand and admiring their foil effects, particularly Reverse Foil, is incredible.

The background aesthetic inspired by each Pokémon type - Rocky (F) Energy with the flying rocks, Telepathic (P) Energy with the energy waves, and Growing (G) Energy with the leaves - is quite cool and shows a lot of attention to detail. It's similar to X/Y's special energies, from 2016.

8 - Wondrous Patch (Ultra Rare/Full Art - 117/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Studio Bora Inc., which has designed cards for Pokémon TCG since the very first classic sets. Poke Ball JU 64, from the Jungle set, is one example.

I thought this card was beautiful because of the purple background, which looks like a vortex. The sparkle inside the Psychic symbol resembles acrylic material.

If you hold this card yourself, it's easy to see how beautiful it is.

7 - Meowth ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 121/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Natsumi Yoshida, who has just recently begun working for the Pokémon Company. They have created 20 artworks so far, but one in particular stands out: Mew ex PR-SV 53 from Scarlet & Violet: 151. This card became quite valuable in the last 2 years.

Meowth ex is clearly inspired by the Pop Art movement, which is all about texture, solid colors, minimal shading, bold outlines, and vivid shapes.

6 - Rosa's Encouragement (Secret Illustration Rare - 123/88)

Image content of the Website

This card was designed by Iori Suzuki, a new name for the Pokémon Company. They have created over 10 artworks, and, before they were hired properly, they took part in the 2nd Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix. Their Tyranitar stood out considerably then.

Image content of the Website

Suzuki can easily draw beefier Pokémon (like the Tyranitar we mentioned) and delicate Pokémon in their respective habitats. They can also represent delicate characters, like Rosa, the protagonist in Black & White.

5 - Dedenne (Illustration Rare - 93/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by the iconic HYOGONOSUKE, who became even more popular lately because some of their artworks form a big mosaic when put together.

HYOGONOSUKE's greatest strength is their style, which doesn't rely on black outlines. They use just a few colors to form shapes and not overwhelm the artwork with heavy shading.

4 - Clefairy (Illustration Rare - 94/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Cona Nitanda, an iconic name in the Pokémon community. They're known for their delicate themes, like Erika's Invitation sv3pt5 203 from Scarlet & Violet: 151.

3 - Drapion (Illustration Rare - 97/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by kawayoo, another iconic name in the Pokémon community. They have worked for the Pokémon Company since the Diamond & Pearl and Heart Gold & Soul Silver eras.

Their "real" name is Kawaguchi Yoohei, and they have created over 200 cards. They were responsible for the Heart Gold & Soul Silver promo artworks. Another iconic card was Sun & Moon's Pikachu & Zekrom-GX PR-SM SM168 promo artwork.

These artworks clearly resemble actual paintings, even though they're digital creations, which makes them quite charming. It also makes these Pokémon feel more serious, a nice contrast to the "childlike" side of the franchise.

2 - Talonflame (Illustration Rare - 91/88)

Image content of the Website

This card was created by OKACHEKE, another iconic name in the community. They have been around since the Sword & Shield era and have created over 70 artworks.

OKACHEKE creates textures with what seems like "real" ink.

The coolest detail in this artwork is the sunbeams hitting the windows. The reflection of the light in Talonflame's wing is also pretty nice. It makes it seem like this illustration was captured by a camera "lens".

1 - Doublade (Illustration Rare - 98/88)

Image content of the Website

This artwork was created by Anesaki Dynamic, who also created the Brilliant Stars, Astral Radiance, Lost Origin, and Silver Tempest booster illustrations in the Sword & Shield era.

Doublade is similar to Aegislash sv4 210, created by Takumi Wada for the Paradox Rift set.

The idea behind this Doublade, that is, to represent it as a sword hung in a weapon room in a fortress or castle, was incredibly smart. The realistic style also really fit this Pokémon.
