In this article, we'll show you 10 strong and interesting eeveelutions in Pokémon TCG - considering cards from the Wizards of the Coast era until today. Today is Jolteon's turn!

Top 10 Best Jolteon in Pokémon TCG

10 - Jolteon (Sun/Moon: Cosmic Eclipse)

The "baby" Kanto evolution lines in Sun & Moon were released as support cards, and each version had a different goal.

This Jolteon lowers eeveelutions' (all of them, including Eevee GX) attack costs by one less colorless energy card through its ability, Speed Cheer. Some of the evolutions that benefit from this are:

9 - Jolteon (Sword/Shield: Vivid Voltage)

Its ability is what stands out the most because we activate it with Memory Capsule VIV 202: "if this card is attached to a Pokémon, it can use attacks from its previous versions, that is, its previous evolutions and basic form".

In this case, we'll activate its evolution's ability, which tells us: if Jolteon VIV 47 has the tool above equipped, it will disable all abilities from Water Pokémon in play!

Water Pokémon we can sabotage are: Blastoise BCR 31, Blastoise PGO 17, Octillery BKT 33, Starmie EVO 31, Manaphy BRS 41, Phione CEC 57, Drizzile SSH 56 and Inteleon SSH 58, Radiant Greninja ASR 46 e Radiant Blastoise PGO 18, Volcanion ◇ FLI 31, and support cards like Lumineon V PR-SW SWSH250, Manaphy-EX BKP 32 and Volcanion-EX PR-XY XY173.

8 - Jolteon (X/Y: Ancient Origins)

Jolteon AOR 26's ability, Electric Effect, gives all our stage 1 Pokémon the Electric type as a secondary type, which allows us to use more "baby" stage 1 cards, Pokémon GX, and Scarlet & Violet's ex cards in Expanded.

Keep in mind that Pokémon V, in their VStar and VMax forms, aren't considered stage 1 Pokémon, so, this ability doesn't apply to them.

7 - Jolteon (Wizards of the Coast: e-Card Series: Skyridge)

What's fun about this Pokémon is its attack, Thunderspark, which deals 40 damage to the opponent's active Pokémon, and 10 damage to each benched Pokémon that has an energy card attached.

Sniper attacks in the old Wizards of the Coast format were incredibly powerful because they could knock out multiple Pokémon at once.

Additionally, this Jolteon's retreat cost is zero, which is even better!

6 - Light Jolteon (Wizards of the Coast: Neo Destiny)

The Light & Dark mechanics, that is, morally good and bad Pokémon, brought us several interesting things. Light Pokémon were counterparts to Dark Pokémon, which focused more on the Team Rocket in general.

Light Jolteon N4 48 was basically a wall because its first attack, Pulse Guard, protected it from enemy attacks that dealt 30 or more damage. So, your opponent was forced to use attackers that dealt 20 damage to try and knock it out.

The best thing about it was its second attack, Thunder Needle, which forces you to toss a coin three times, but deals 20 damage each time you hit. However, the fun is in its second effect: by hitting at least two coins, your opponent will become Paralyzed! Paralysis is any Pokémon player's nightmare, considering it is one of the worst "bad status" there is, they won't be able to attack nor retreat as usual.

It is a pity we don't have a card similar to this one in Expanded.

5 - Jolteon ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Delta Species)

This Pokémon stood out as one of the eeveelutions in the 2006 Worlds winning decklink outside website, and has several benefits:

► Its ability, Evolutionary Thunder, would work as soon as you evolved an Eevee DS 69 in play to play Jolteon ex DS 109 from your hand on the board on that turn. Then, your opponent's Pokémon would get one damage counter.

► To complement its "ability", its first attack, Second Bite, dealt 20 + 10 damage for each damage counter your opponent had.

► Finally, its second attack, Thunder Blast, which dealt 70 base damage, was useful (even if you had to discard an energy card attached to Jolteon) because, after applying the weakness debuff, it would deal 140 damage and hurt a lot of Pokémon that were weak to the Electric type at the time, such as Charizard ex RG 105, and also Blastoise ex RG 104.

Additionally, it also wouldn't cost anything to retreat.

4 - Jolteon (Scarlet/Violet: 151)

Straight from the 151 special set from the Scarlet & Violet block, we have this incredible Jolteon. Just like its partners, Vaporeon and Flareon, its attack deals 90 + 90 damage, which is 180. If you equip it with Supereffective Glasses ASR 152, you'll triple this value, and deal 540 damage!

And the best of it all: this card will be available in 2024 Standard, just like the tool mentioned above.

3 - Jolteon-EX (X/Y: Generations)

Even though its attack, Swift, is interesting because it goes over the enemy Pokémon's effects (be it weakness, resistance, ability, or attack effects), what interests us is its second attack, Flash Ray, which tells us the following:

"Deal 70 damage, and, on the next turn, if your opponent's active Pokémon is a basic Pokémon, it can't attack."

Furthermore, we have several strategies to lock down our opponent in Expanded, and there is a Pokémon that can take advantage and copy this attack: Mewtwo & Mew-GX UNM 71, thanks to its ability, Perfection.

We then have the Mewtwo & Mew-GX UNM 71 / Jolteon-EX GEN 28 combo. If you want to check out further details about it, just click herelink outside website.

This is another Jolteon whose retreat cost is zero! This is wonderful.

2 - Jolteon-GX (Sun/Moon: Promo Card)

Its role is to deal damage for a cheap cost - let's remember the first Jolteon we mentioned in this list, Jolteon CEC 70. Its ability states clearly that GX type eeveelutions will require one less colorless energy card to attack. So, its second attack, Head Bolt will only require one Basic Lightning Energy sv1 257, deal 110 damage, and can deal even more damage with Electropower LOT 232.

To boost this Pokémon even more, we have Thunder Mountain ◇ LOT 191, which allows us to use one less Electric energy card to attack with Pokémon in this archetype. So, Jolteon-GX PR-SM SM173 will attack for free!

Its first attack, Electro bullet, is also useful, considering it deals "sniper" damage.

And, of course, we have its GX attack, Swift Runner, which, besides dealing damage, makes it immune to your opponent's attack effects and attack damage.

Again, this is another Jolteon that can retreat for free.

1 - Jolteon VMax (Sword/Shield: Evolution Skies)

Loading icon

We've reached our podium with this powerful and iconic Jolteon.

It is basically a boosted version of its GX version, and has similar goals, considering it also deals sniper damage with Max Thunder Rumble. We can think of several cards to complement a strategy with this Jolteon:

► If we use Thunder Mountain ◇ LOT 191, it will need one less Electric energy card to attack and will deal damage for just one colorless energy card.

► If you want to deal damage to your opponent's bench to apply weakness, use Wide Lens ROS 95.

► If you would like to triple the damage you deal to the active Pokémon, we have Supereffective Glasses ASR 152.

► If you don't want to spend any energy cards to attack with Jolteon VMAX EVS 51, use Elemental Badge EVS 147.

Keep in mind: as it is an Electric Pokémon, we can use Electropower LOT 232 to boost its damage by another 120 points, if you use all four copies of it on a single turn.

Like any good Jolteon, it also doesn't cost anything to retreat!
