The Best Decks from Wisdom of Sea and Sky

Today, let's go over the decks that won the main grassroot tournaments with the new set, "Wisdom of Sea and Sky".

We'll see what changed, which decks are at the top of the meta, and the best the new set brought to the metagame.

Evil Spirits - Giratina ex & Darkrai ex

Deck played by Luufy, who won the Ursiiday's Pocket Weekly #37. 839 players competed at this event for the USD 400 prize.

The deck that won the most recent Ursiiday tournament was, once again, the strongest and most popular list in the game: Giratina ex and Darkrai ex. Five sets have come and gone, and it is still incredibly strong.

This list is almost the same as five sets ago. The difference is that it now plays Silver, a new Trainer from this set. Silver is great in competitive settings because it is one of the few cards that forces your opponent to reveal their hand, so it creates enough value to see play.

With it, you'll be able to see everything your opponent has in their hand, pick one of their support cards, and shuffle it back into their deck.

Other than that, it is still the most powerful list in the game, and very few decks can handle this strategy head-on. Currently, the meta centers around this list: you either play it or play something to beat it.

Giratina ex, Sylveon ex & Greninja

Deck played by srafaelitocs, who won the Underground Pocket Special. 118 players competed at this event for the USD 20 prize.

This Giratina ex version is already quite popular. It is also one of the best sniper strategies in the game. Now that it plays Sylveon ex, from the last set, it is even more consistent, as it draws a lot of cards with its ability.

This list is relatively more complex than the Drakrai ex version because you'll play Water and Psychic energies. This means you can use Greninja as an attacker in the active spot too, besides using it on your bench to deal damage to enemy Pokémon.

Psychic Eeveelutions - Eevee ex / Sylveon ex / Espeon ex

Deck played by Bigcow, who won the FrogEX Wisdom of Sea and Sky. 276 players competed at this event for the USD 50 prize.

This is one of the most popular decks right now. It is also the first competitive list with Eevee ex, the star of the last set (before Wisdom of Sea and Sky).

It's one of the most consistent lists in the meta because, besides drawing cards with Sylveon ex, it also heals with Espeon ex, which, though it seems relatively weak, is quite useful in this current meta.

Espeon ex heals your Benched Pokémon and, as such, prevents your opponent from Knocking them Out with any sniper effects.

The main Pokémon in this list don't deal a lot of damage, but you'll draw so many cards and heal them so much that this won't matter. This strategy is incredibly fast, so you'll always have the cards you need, and your Pokémon are tough enough to handle most attacks in the meta.

Another important card in this strategy is Eevee Bag, which heals all your Eeveelutions in play. It will be a nightmare for your opponent.

This list proves you don't need Pokémon with extremely strong attacks to win the game. You just need a nice deck with lots of card draw and heals. If you have that, you'll be well-prepared to deal with the meta.

Guzzlord ex & Ultrabeasts

Deck played by KoeHearts, who won the Jules x Pabsy Cup #1. 192 players competed at this event for the USD 40 prize.

This is the main counter list in the meta because it is one of the few Darkness decks that can compete with Giratina ex lists and lists with Sylveon ex.

Guzzlord ex is great against Giratina ex because you can discard energies from it without wasting too much time. Furthermore, you'll deal more damage to Giratina ex because of its type and also deal a lot of damage through poison. This is great against Giratina ex because they'll have to retreat it and, as such, waste time.

Overall, the main idea behind this list is discarding energies from your opponent's active Pokémon. Then, you'll deal the rest of the damage you need to Knock it Out with poison and Nihilego's ability, which doubles poison damage.

Finally, with Celesteela, you'll be able to swap your Ultrabeasts very easily and, as such, save your Pokémon from dangerous situations whenever necessary.
