Pokémon TCG: Top 10 Best Espeon of All Time
10 - Espeon (Sword/Shield: Promo Card)
For Expanded, we got this reprint of Espeon SS 16, which now deals 10 base damage plus 40 extra damage for each energy attached to your opponent's active Pokémon. It's quite an upgrade.
9 - Espeon (Sun/Moon: Lost Thunder)
In the Sun/Moon block, this Espeon's second attack got an upgrade, more specifically how much energy it costs, and it now works similarly to Espeon SS 16 (from Ruby/Sapphire: Sandstorm). However, instead of three colorless energies, it costs only one psychic energy to use this attack and deal 20 damage for each energy attached to all your opponent's Pokémon.
As a bonus, its first attack also draws us three cards.
8 - Espeon (Black/White: Plasma Freeze)
Moving on to Expanded, and to eeveelution archetypes from the Black & White era, this Espeon is incredible because its first attack draws you up to six cards. As for its second attack, it is a subtle sniper attack that complemented the damage its evolution "buddies" dealt to enemy Pokémon. That's how you'd knock them out most times.
7 - Espeon (e-Cards Series: Aquapolis)
This Pokémon is even older than the ones above. It was released in the e-Cards era (which you can't even use in Expanded today), and its ability, Energy Return, was great: on your turn, at any point, you can return one of the energies attached to your Pokémon to your hand.
This was a way to protect one of your energies if your opponent was about to knock out the Pokémon it was attached to, but also enabled a few combos. After all, you could later on use this energy to attack with another Pokémon.
In any case, it was an interesting resource.
6 - Espeon (Black/White: Dark Explorers)
For Expanded, once again, this Espeon's ability, Solar Revelation, states, "prevent all effects of your opponent's attacks, except damage, done to each of your Pokémon that has any Energy attached to it."
This means that effects like "bad statuses" don't affect your Pokémon, and neither do "Instant K.O." attacks, like Giratina VSTAR LOR 131's VSTAR attack, Yveltal SHF 46's attack, and Absol GRI 81's second attack.
5 - Espeon "Prime" (Heart Gold/Soul Silver: Undaunted)
Released in the Heart Gold/Soul Silver era, when "Prime" Pokémon were in the spotlight, this Espeon lets you use the attacks of all Pokémon you have in play that evolved from Eevee. Of course, you also need to pay its energy cost.
4 - Espeon-GX (Sun/Moon: Base Set)
Espeon's GX version from the Sun/Moon block is one of the most versatile eeveelution Pokémon of all time, as its first attack makes the enemy Pokémon Confused. This gives you some time to set up all the energies you need to use its second attack, which deals 60 base damage plus 30 extra damage for each energy attached to your opponent's active Pokémon.

As for its GX attack, Divide, it gives you 10 damage counters to put on your opponent's Pokémon in any way you want.
3 - Espeon ex (Ruby/Sapphire: Unseen Forces)
In our third spot, we have the first ex Espeon, which was incredibly strong when it was released.
As for its second attack, Psy Loop, it deals 60 base damage plus 30 extra damage for each Trainer your opponent has in play, which was extremely strong at the time.
2 - Espeon & Deoxys TAG TEAM-GX (Sun/Moon: Unified Minds)
In our second spot, we have Espeon's TAG TEAM version alongside Deoxys. Its GX attack, Cross Division, lets you put 10 damage counters on your opponent's Pokémon in any way you like. However, this attack has a second effect: you can put another 20 damage counters if you meet its conditions.
Furthermore, its main attack is perfect if you're playing a pure Psychic deck, as Psychic Club deals 10 base damage plus 30 extra damage for each Psychic Pokémon on your bench.
1 - Espeon VMax (Sword/Shield: Evolving Skies)
This is Espeon's "supreme" version, and has the best of both worlds:
- It has the same ability as Espeon DEX 48, which we added to our sixth place, that "prevents enemy effects and attacks".
- As for its attack, Max Mindstorm, it deals 60 damage for each energy attached to all your opponent's Pokémon. This means, if they have five energies, Espeon VMax will deal 300 damage, which is quite strong for Expanded.
Honorable Mentions
Espeon-EX (X/Y: BREAKpoint)
This Espeon is a great "tech" card for Pokémon like Mewtwo & Mew-GX UNM 71, as it can copy all Espeon-EX's attacks, particularly to deal damage constantly and return Pokémon, or ignore your opponent's effects with its attack.
Espeon (Diamond/Pearl: Majestic Dawn)
This Espeon made it to our list because of its Sunlight Veil ability, which gives 20 extra HP to all your "eeveelutions" in play, as it is a support Pokémon.
As it is from the Diamond/Pearl block, you can't use it in Expanded.
