Pokémon TCG: Top 10 Most Expensive Shiny Pokémon from Sun & Moon: Hidden Fates

In this article, we'll go over a great set that was released in the last days of the Sun & Moon block, Hidden Fates. Many important Pokémon were honored in this set, as well as many Kanto Pokémon, whose shiny versions are very popular among the community.

Keep in mind, the prices below only apply to the English versions of these cards! The prices of versions in other languages may vary according to the local currency.

10 - Lucario-GX

This Pokémon was relevant because of many factors: for one, it is one of the Pokémon in Cynthia's team, the champion of Sinnoh. Secondly, its aesthetic is quite beautiful, and thirdly, the eighth movie in the Pokémon franchise, featuring Ash Ketchum, also put it under the spotlight. Besides all of this, it is also great in the VGC.

If you evolve Riolu to this Lucario-GX, it will deal bonus damage with its first attack, Aura Strike. In emergencies, you could also resort to its GX attack to deal absurd amounts of damage.

9 - Scizor-GX

Scizor, with its mighty visuals, is one of the most beloved Johto Pokémon.

A fun fact is that this shiny version references Scyther, as it is also green.

What stands out about this card is its ability, Danger Perception, which states that, if Scizor-GX has 100 HP or less, all of its attacks deal 80 extra damage!

8 - Leafeon-GX

As the only Grass eevelution, Leafeon-GX is a support Pokémon for this archetype because of its GX attack, Grand Bloom: for each of your basic Pokémon on your bench, search your deck for a card that evolves from that Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it.

This was incredibly helpful to progress your game plan.

7 - Greninja-GX

Froakie's final evolution, Greninja, which has been one of the most popular Kalos Pokémon, is often high-ranked in popularity contests in Japan.

Furthermore, the X/Y anime series tells Ash's story with his own Greninja, and increased its popularity even more. Many VGC players also consider Greninja the best Kalos starter.

6 - Rayquaza-GX

Rayquaza-GX has been a popular Pokémon among the community for multiple reasons: firstly, its lore is featured in the VGC, shown alongside the other two Hoenn Weather Pokémon. Secondly, this Pokémon's design is, in itself, incredibly mighty. It was also inspired by many Asian myths about dragons, which are incredibly relevant in many Asian cultures.

Furthermore, this version is black, which makes it more sophisticated, like a "luxurious dragon".

5 - Mewtwo-GX

This Pokémon is always one of the most popular Pokémon in any set because it is so nostalgic. It was also one of the first "legendary" Pokémon shown in the Pokémon world, and was heavily featured in movies. You can check out more info about the movies here.

Mewtwo's lore, brilliantly created by scriptwriter Takeshi Shudo, has always charmed Japanese fans, and thus it remains incredibly relevant and popular to this day.

4 - Espeon-GX

Another eeveelution has made it into our list, this time the Psychic version.

Besides being a versatile attacker because of its two main attacks and its GX attack, it is also highly coveted by collectors because it is an Eevee evolution. Long-term, eeveelutions are always a great investment and usually become quite valuable.

Price: US$58.

3 - Sylveon-GX

The Faery eeveelution also made it to our list.

The shiny version is only slightly different from the regular version. Check out how nuanced their color schemes are:

Its interesting attacks are Magical Ribbon, which lets you get, from your deck, any 3 cards you'd like, and its GX attack, Plea. Plea lets you pick two Pokémon on your opponent's bench and return those Pokémon and all cards attached to them to their hand. This is great to sabotage heavier Pokémon which are difficult to set up, or stage 2 evolution support Pokémon that need Rare Candies, as it will greatly delay and disrupt your opponent.

2 - Umbreon-GX

In our second place, we have another eeveelution, namely the Darkness variation, Umbreon.

Umbreon is also one of the most coveted Pokémon among collectors for many reasons. For instance, because of its story and personality, it is considered a "dark Pokémon", and, in this shiny version, its stripes are blue instead of yellow, as well as their eyes, which are considered quite beautiful.

It is also a versatile Pokémon, as it can be defensive, offensive, and sabotage your opponent with its first, second, and third attack, respectively.

Price: US$165.

1 - Charizard-GX

In our first place, we have Charizard. This card was great in Standard in the Sun/Moon era, and also played in a few decks in Expanded.

This version became a lot more valuable since 2020, but, in the past 8 months, it became even more popular.
