Introduction
Currently, Pokémon TCG is all about Mega Evolutions, which were originally released in the VGC game titles. Pokémon: Legends Z-A brought even more eyes to these Pokémon, as well as more of them, like Mega Greninja ex, Mega Pyroar, and others.
In this article, we'll go over the most expensive cards in the fourth base set in the Mega Pokémon block, Chaos Rising.
Top 10 Most Expensive Cards in Chaos Rising
10 - Xerneas (Illustration Rare - 91/86)

This card was illustrated by YASHIRO Nanaco, who also designed the famous Umbreon ex PRE 161, the most expensive card in Scarlet & Violet: Prismatic Evolutions.
The most charming thing about their style is that they depict the "life in the nature" around Xerneas. The colorful twigs and leaves around the background and the Pokémon are incredibly soft.
This Pokémon "represents life" in Pokémon lore, but it also really fits this Art Nouveau style, as it centers around natural elements.
Price: US$20.
9 - Frogadier (Illustration Rare - 89/86)

This card was designed by Susumu Maeya, who also created the entire Froakie evolution line in this set.
They are also the mangaka behind The Food Diary of Miss Maid.
They're known for their delicate and soft styles, typical of "shoujo" manga and anime.
Price: US$22.
8 - Froakie (Illustration Rare - 88/86)

Once again, we have a card created by Susumu Maeya.
Price: US$30.
7 - Roxie's Performance (Secret Illustration Rare - 121/86)

Roxie is one of the most present gym leaders in Pokémon TCG, and now she got an even bigger shoutout with this Tomokawa artwork. This freelance artist is known for their cartoonish style. They only use a few colors for the shades and lean heavily into vivid colors. The rough outlines bring back Pop Art from the 60s and put it in the 21st century.

Price: US$35.
6 - AZ's Tranquility (Secret Illustration Rare - 120/86)

This art was created by OKACHEKE (who we have mentioned several times in other articles) and shows the legendary and serene Pokémon trainer, AZ, with his friend, Floette, in peace after all the struggles they've been through. Anyone who has played the games knows this story really well.
In the past, AZ created a weapon, a cannon fueled by the energy Mega Pokémon give off, to bring Floette back to life. However, this cost the lives of thousands of other Pokémon. This made Floette really sad, and it ended up rejecting his decision. Ridden with guilt, AZ spent years looking for redemption so that he could meet his Pokémon again. It is one of the most moving stories in the X & Y generation.
Price: US$45.
5 - Mega Floette ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 119/86)

This card extends AZ's story. This Mega Floette was created by Teeziro, another popular Pokémon artist. We've mentioned them many times in other articles as well.
Price: US$60.
4 - Mega Dragalge ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 118/86)

This card was created by Kazumasa Yasukuni, who is known for his dynamic and vivid poses, similar to comic book styles.
They have also shown up pretty regularly in our articles because of the many cards they have created.
Price: US$70.
3 - Cinccino ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 119/86)

This card was created by Keisin, who perfectly captured how cute this Pokémon is. It's very similar to the promo Meloetta (Mega Evolution, #26) they have created.

This artist is also pretty versatile, as they have represented Pokémon in many different backgrounds. They don't only design cute cards. Stoutland sv3 172 is a pretty good example of that.
Price: US$90.
2 - Mega Greninja ex (Hyper Gold Rare/Gold Full Art - 124/86)

As expected, Mega Greninja ex is the 2nd most expensive card in this set because it is the only Gold Full Art in it, as well as one of the best competitive Pokémon.
It was designed by takuyoa.
Price: US$130.
1 - Mega Greninja ex (Secret Illustration Rare - 122/86)

The most expensive card in this set is once again Mega Greninja, but this was created by Susumu Maeya. It's the last card in the evolution line we mentioned before, with Froakie and Frogadier.
Price: US$390.
